And no, its not contradictory. Ron Paul was never anti IP. Nor is Paul the chosen one of the libertarian community as many seem to think.

It may not be technically hypocritical, but the optics are pretty lousy. He is seen by most people as being far more libertarian than other "semi-mainstream" politicians, and his supporters tend to be very anti-government. This behavior of his comes across as rather whiny and it looks bad.
