PH, that's a much more sensible set of ideas than the support of the status quo, or worse, supporting a greater uninhibited sprawl of spending and international presence.

What's ironic, in your post, is the fact that reality is the single biggest factor in determing the nuttiness of RP's ideas. Reality is the pesky little truth that gets in the way of every single one of his "overboard" ideas -- and yes, nearly every proposal RP has made is overboard, not just the Fed Reserve nonsense.Originally posted by: BoberFett

The Dozen Man March?
I don't think we should underestimate the lunatic fringe. He may get 10 to 20 thousand.
I guess Washington stores should stock up on tin foil.
Wow.. Goddamn.. What a great argument. I think I'll quit supporting Ron Paul and drink your Kool Aid because you make the best discussion ever. You call us names better than anyone can. I cannot understand how you consistently come up with perfectly valid reasoning through insults - but hey, when you're right you're right!
His nutcase policies have been evaluated, debated, and picked apart many times by many people. Just because you don't agree with RP's critics doesn't make them wrong. So yeah, make sure you bring a Monster Big Gulp cup to drink the KoolAid.
I take it you're talking about the federal reserve? Congratulations, you've found the one area where he goes overboard.
His foreign policy is 100% correct. His policies involving the elimination of useless (at best and downright corrupt at worst) federal agencies is 100% correct.
Just because you disagree doesn't mean Paul is a nutcase. What's nuts is both the Democrats and Republicans leading this country straight down the shitter and the majority cheering them on as they do it. Want to know what policies are nuts? Hillary's universal health care. Huckabee's national sales tax. McCain's 100 years in Iraq. If we're writing off candidates based on nutcase ideas, those three should be polling at the same level as Paul.
The fact of the matter is that most American's don't want change. They want their bread and circuses. They think the government can protect them from life. They're scared of reality, but reality is going to come crashing down around us soon enough. The bubble economy of the last several decades is going to burst and at that point no amount of tax and spend is going to save this country from the severe economic pain we're facing.
But keep telling us how Ron Paul is the nutcase, not you. If that helps you sleep at night, do whatever you need to do, nutcase.
1) We can NOT realistically withdraw our troops from the entire globe - or even Iraq.
2) We can NOT realistically halt all foreign aid.
3) We can NOT realistically switch to a gold standard, or anything similar.
4) We can NOT realistically completely dismantle 90% of the Federal government
5) We can NOT realistically physically lock down each of our borders.
6) etc.
I'm starting to see a trend...![]()
Big difference between it not being able to be done and you not understanding how it can be done. By the way #6 is incorrect. Paul does not wish to lock down the borders.
#6 was "etc"...
but, as for #5, what the hell else would you call it when RP plans to give the border patrol job to our entire military -- as their only function!
Like I said, the majority of his ideas are unrealistic and/or downright crazy.

As a general rule, someone who actively hates something is probably not the best candidate to run it. Putting Fred Phelps in charge of GLAAD would probably not work out very well. Having Andrew Dice Clay head NOW would meet with similar results. John Muir wouldn't have fit in as head of a logging company. And people campaigning saying "Washington is evil" probably ought not be put in charge of running it. If your entire campaign is based around how bad the government is, why in God's name would you want to be a part of it? Unless you were evil too... or lying to us... which would still make you corrupt... No, there's no good reason to say "our government is terrible, elect me to it!"

You should realize, palehorse, that what you call reality I call ignorance. You fundamentally misunderstand what you see. You don't know who you are and believe what is a lie. I don't laugh at you. You laugh at me. That tells me something you also don't see.

He'd better be careful of that one. His loons, if in true form, might get taken out by the Secret Service.

What the hell happened? Here we have a whacked out fruit cake with the same values even from Texas and he is so RIGHT loony it would be a sure bet if he got in he would line the pockets of the rich and religious.... Hmmmm... I fail to see why he didn't get nominated... Maybe someone can explain .... Tho, I think RP is a bit smarter then Bush... Still... I guess too radical... If RP kept his trap shut he might have had a chance.
