Ron DeSantis cannot be the 2024 GOP nominee...it would destroy the GOP

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who barely won the Florida's governor's race last year against his African-American opponent Andrew Gillum, cannot be the 2024 GOP presidential nominee if he runs for president as he is widely expected to.

DeSantis has racial baggage......

The GOP post-Trump in 2024 will have to take a more moderate tone.....a center-right conservative would be a better GOP nominee.....than DeSantis.

I think he either resigns or doesn't run for reelection, or he gets exonerated and he runs and he wins reelection in 2020.

This is Trump, he'll think he's entitled to a second term even if his support falls off a cliff.

On that note: if (and hopefully when) Trump loses in 2020, I'm really looking forward to the sheer amount of whining that will come from him. I'll be surprised if he even shows up to his replacement's inauguration ceremony.

TrumpTV will be in full motion at that point. It will even go after Fox news in the end too. There's no question in my mind

Heh. he already had his first resignation today. The Secretary of State.

See if you can guess why...

Desantis has baggage but has surprised more than a few people since his inauguration. He has been winning over dems, environmentalist and local left leaning MSM. He's getting accolades from the left but I haven't heard a peep out of the state GOP or republicans in general. He's still flubbing some stuff. He needs to let amendment 4 go forward without lawmakers gerrymandering among other things. He's starting out fixing stuff Scott broke and making positive changes. We'll see as time goes on.

Personally I now believe he didn't provide much of a plan for change during the campaign on purpose because some Republicans probably would not vote for him if they knew what he was going to do. That wall commercial was to draw in republicans to vote for him.

Oops, Desantis flubbed that one if he knew about it.

Well it looks like he did a few good things during his career. Too bad he screwed it up with one photo.
DeSantis named Ertel on Dec. 28 to replace Ken Detzner, who served as former Gov. Rick Scott’s Secretary of State since 2012.

The Secretary of State's Office is immersed in a debate about how to implement Amendment 4, which restored voting rights to some 1.4 million ex-felons. Desantis, who was against the amendment before the election, advised waiting to register them until the Legislature passed enacting legislation. Some counties, however, have begun the process.

Ertel said he sent an email to county elections supervisors to accept all applications from ex-felons.

The photos are the sole blemish on a seemingly spotless public career, highlighted by a record of increasing voter registration and making the elections office more accessible to the public.

Ertel began serving as supervisor of elections for Seminole County on Feb. 5, 2005, when Gov. Jeb Bush named him to replace Dennis Joyner, who stepped down for health reasons.

He ran against Democratic Party activist Marian Williams in 2006, beating her by 59 percent. He was subsequently re-elected without opposition. That same year he participated in monitoring the New Orleans mayoral election.

Ertel has a long record of expanding voting rights and registering people to vote. The city of Longwood gave him a Martin Luther King Jr. award for registering voters. In 2012, Ertel spoke out against Scott’s purge of so-called non-citizens from the voter rolls, saying many of those who were purged were actually eligible voters.

Ertel also has won international awards for his plans to restore voter confidence and trust in the elections system.

Even if Trump runs in 2020 I do not think he will be re-elected. Not even close.

I agree. Dem candidates are lining up out the door. Repubs are standing around scratching their heads. If a dem wins s/he will reverse everything Trump did and stay in office for 8 years (not that there is anything wrong with that.) 😉
