good move for Romney

move the national dialogue away from his 47% remarks

i would like to see Romney meet the same standards as other POTUS candidates when it comes to transparency. If he has, then great!

What is wrong with what he said about those 47%. The truth is the truth.

As for transparency, if he was as transparent as the current POTUS we would know next to nothing about him and what we did know would be a lie.

Is that what you want?



p.s., Besides he was not talking about governing, he was talking about the election. I guess you haven't figured that out because the MSM, an arm of the Democrat Party, has not told you yet.

Over the entire 20-year period, the average annual effective federal tax rate was 20.20%.

Over the entire 20-year period, the lowest annual effective federal personal tax rate was 13.66%.

Over the entire 20-year period, the Romneys gave to charity an average of 13.45% of their adjusted gross income.

Over the entire 20-year period, the total federal and state taxes owed plus the total charitable donations deducted represented 38.49% of total AGI.

So 33.65% combined for effective + charity. Seems in line. Good for romney :thumbsup:

NO, but I want him to be transparent in all of his past and present activities, not just taxes. He is not. He is the least known person ever to hold that office.
 
I just don't get the call for his actual returns. When did this become the premise in which to earn someone's vote? 20 years for Romney. Are you kidding me, who the hell saves 20 years of their tax returns. It's a stupid argument.

That said, 30% to charities. Can't wait for the first person to either 1) complain 30% isn't enough or 2) he used charitable giving to get out of paying taxes.

2011 tax return. 20 year summary from 1990-2009. We should totally just accept that summary at face value.
 
Well, Obama was not much for making any kind of charitable donations until he started his run for the presidency, so it is good to see how consistent Romney has been in doing so.

Obama's charitable donations as reported by the Washington Post,

2005: $77,315 to charity out of income of $1.66 million (4.6 percent)
2004: $2,500 out of $207,647 (1.2 percent)
2003: $3,400 out of $238,327 (1.4 percent)
2002: $1,050 out of $259,394 (0.4 percent)

  • The Romneys donated $4,020,772 to charity in 2011, amounting to nearly 30% of their income.
  • The Romneys claimed a deduction for $2.25 million of those charitable contributions.
