Oh, I thought he said he was not in the race any more. I edited the thread title to reflect this new info.

He stopped campaigning because he couldn't afford it but never dropped out and continued the tour to colleges and some local town hall stuff. By Iowa he knew that what he started in 2007 had a much larger presence and was completely grassroots ran.

Of those listed Ron Paul's the only one close to sane, the rest are ignorant, bible thumping, fundie fruitcakes, except maybe Gingrich and Trump, both of whom are just as fucked up, just in different ways.

Ron Paul is the only one who can fix the country and you forgot to add obama to that list

It will take more than one person, even if that person is president, to fix this country. Everyone will need to change, from even a little to a lot. I actually think Congress is probably more important in this regard than the President, and guess who elects them, and thus needs to change?

I was sort of hoping they would have a "Just kidding!" moment and nominate Rick Perry instead. At least that way we wouldn't have to put Spidey on death watch. :(

I am talking more about his ideas though. The American public is far too stupid to understand how bad the situation is, majority of them are a bunch of sheep

I've said this before, hopefully with more eloquence, that the type of President (or Congressmen) we really need will never be elected if they were fully truthful about the kind of changes that we need. People don't want to face the truth, it is easier to stick your head in the sand. So in that sense, we can agree.

Why do we need a thread about this? We already knew he had the nomination like 3 months or more ago. Hell, he had it from the get go for the smart ones.

^^ not really.

He will be dead and gone but honestly I believe his movement will gain an established position within the GOP and take it back to real conservative values.

Over the next 20 years I see them coming to terms with the new landscape (demographics, debt, war, etc.) and changing their tune. They have to if they want to remain relevant because they are in dire need of younger voters and minorities.

The entire RNC was literally filled with old white people other than the Liberty delegates. The party is definitely not unified in any shape or form.

You did not list Huntsman. :colbert:

Personally, when I started reading up on him, I really starting liking him and was interested in what he had to say. He seemed very moderate (his first mistake and clue he would not get the nod) and worldly.

His experience being ambassador to China and fluency in their language and culture alone makes him a candidate to consider. If you ever read any of his op/eds on cnn or elsewhere, it is obvious he is extremely intelligent.

If nothing else, he should be involved in foreign policy, China desk, at the national level. Seems like so many of our elected officials are scared to do anything with China to fight the trade imbalance and help our incestuous economy.
I liked Huntsman on paper, but I find it impossible to overlook the fact that he just flat-out ran a bad campaign. I can't help but assume that a candidate inability to run a campaign reflects a likely inability to run a White House.

How do you know Schneiderguy's pictures weren't right?:). Just wondering.

I personally think dr. Paul was the last hope for civilization. This country won't be able to afford the war against Iran and it will probably be the last war of this republic. I'm personally predicting the current form of govt will be discarded by the end of 2017 at the latest.

2nd question... What makes the republican party a better vehicle for the liberty movement than the democratic party, the Libertarian party, or the Constitution Party? You said demographics, but that's not enough to change the GOP to a libertarian party before half of today's Ron Paul supporters are dead. Every Republican in this coming congress, except maybe justin amash, will have to be voted out of office for the GOP to be a libertarian party and I don't see that happening. This country (as in the majority of americans) is fucked and I'll be surprised if I'm alive 5 years from now. Even if most of today's supporters of dr. Paul arent wiped out, then there will still be like 25 more years of the welfarewarfare state before the GOP could be comprised of pro liberty people. I mean, the RNC chairman and the people who supported him can't have averaged more than 60 years of age.

All of that said, there is not hope in the ballot box, especially with the 2 party system. What needs to happen is for the masses to start evading taxes and then the state will just collapse.

Well with all the speeches did anyone say 2 good words about Romney (other than simply repeating bad words about Obama)???

I mean.. its like Romney is the invisible candidate.

No one, not even the fat guy, said one word good or bad on Romney's record.
And I wonder why????

No one spoke of the never ending republican-sourced ongoing war.
Or said one word about the 2000 service men and women we have now lost over there.
Or the fact Romney is just fine with letting this war go on and on and on and on and on.....

They don't care. The don't give a shit.

All they care about is beating Obama and getting in power to conclude the damage started by GW.
Hell... GW was a republican last I looked. And resident for 8 years. And not one speech mentioned former president GW either.

Again, just another invisible republican of the past.
Do we really need another invisible president in power?
Same-o republican, different name.

If Romney was a car, and you were out to buy a car, and all the sales man talked about was the weather or the big football game, and said nothing about the car, would you start to wonder maybe you shouldn't buy that car?

Oh, yeah, his wifey said some nice things and smiled big but was she talking about Mitt, or all that available credit on her Mitt Romney cash card?
Hmmmmmm

Paul knows just as everyone here should know that we have a 2 party system. There is a horrible imbalance right now and all the GOP has to do is get more in line with Pauls platform to bring a nice balance between the Democrats and Republican parties.

I'm not saying an existing party will overtake the GOP I'm saying the GOP will revert back to a non neoconservative way of thinking.

I'm a libertarian but I realize that the entire Libertarian platform is a very very long way off from ever being mainstream but the GOP if reverted back would be a solid compromise.

he was an ambassador... it's not like Huntsman was the Czar in charge of passing Obamacare, increasing welfare funding, and assassinating American citizens

Huntsman was actually a great choice for Ambassador to China. He speaks Mandarin Chinese fluently, he has studied Chinese history and modern culture, and he feels the Chinese are an important people group who should not taken seriously. The first few items ensures he will do a good job, the last one ensures they Chinese will respect him enough to work with him.

He was a very good choice. It was also his work with Obama that would have reduced the attacks upon him Obama could have done. Any horrible attacks would have had splash damage upon Obama as well.

Not only that, but a lot of dems I know would have voted for him over Obama.

I can't believe how many people appear to buy Sophitia's "crazed conservative" schtick. There is no more transparent parody account on the forum.

So will our #1 cybrtroll leave now that Santorum didn't get nominated?

Romney isn't Santorum, so don't the door knob hit you in the ass on the way out.

Or are you going to say you willfully lied again about that statement?

Sigh, I have already explained this, but true to form you refuse to actually listen. That is your modus operandi, and it got old ages ago.

However, I will explain it again for others, since we all know you will just pretend it was never explained. I will expose the idiocy of people of like you for another time. The way to do this is via a question. Answer it honestly and you will hopefully not need to ask your inane question over and over again. I bolded it to make it easy for you to see.

Can a person not in a contest win the contest?

Pretty much. I don't see how they can remain much longer when they can barely contain the dissent in their own ranks. The neocons are, thankfully, a dying breed, and slowly but surely they will be replaced.
