None of them. I do not believe the Republican party is qualified to effectively run the country. I'm not saying Democrats are either at this point, but the Republicans have certainly lost it.

As an independent looking solely at the choice of who is listed and who is rumored to be in the running....

Romney by a mile!

I base this solely on the fact that he was able to separate his personal, religious beliefs from those that he tried to govern with. Unlike the last Republican Governor that became President, this guy was successful at running businesses.

He might actually be only an okay pres...but would look like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln all rolled up into a single person compared to the tools that he is running against in the primaries.

ROFLMAO!

Compared to the Fool, Bobo, the Post Turtle, a three day old popcorn fart would do a better job.

Post Turtle? wtf?

He's been spamming that "Bobo, the Post Turtle" thing on ATPN for a while now hoping that it would catch on. We are not amused.

As far as the OP, Jack Kemp's reanimated corpse would do a better job than any of the above three. Where are the moderates in the Republican party? They've been awol for over a decade.

Right-wing posters are like going to the zoo sometimes, and watching the animals.

You understand their behaviors of things like 'random, pointless mangling of liberals' names', but then you see them doing it, like "jimmy the carter."

You understand it's their way of trying to make a point lacking the actual human abilities like logic, but it's entertaining to see them doing it.

Then you remember they can vote, and it's sad.

I'll reserve judgement until the primaries are over. Right now they'd all promise the Tea Party a crusade to recover the oil that Christ trod upon if they thought it would get them the primary.

None of them. The GOP is like a once respected person who became riddled with syphilis dementia. Even though you feel bad for them, you wouldn't trust them with a burned out match.

Picking between the Dems/3rd parties and the GOP is like having to choose between receiving a slap to the face, or a strong running kick to the nuts. Neither is a pleasant notion, but there is a clear difference to be felt.

Yeah, that will never catch on. And you could say the same thing about George W.

I can't think of a president that epitomizes a777's lame attempt at snarky indignation better than GWB. I think it's hilarious he tries to paint Obama this way, it's like he expects the rest of us to share in his amnesia.

Nothing to see here, he's just another Kool Aid drinking, morally destitute Banana Republican that took Obama's killing of OBL kinda hard. Obama delivering campaign promises is like nails on a chalk board for these guys.

It's best to let them destroy their own credibility, go check out the threads he's posted in lately for examples.

Perry/West in 2012!

You mean Allen West? You really are beyond help. That guy is a dope with delusions of grandeur, and that's before we get into his history of torture . . .

I voted Romney in this poll. I am not a fan of any of them, and he is an absolutely shameless political whore, but he's very bright and I'd rather have a Republican President who doesn't really believe or care about many of the things he claims to (such as the abortion issue) than one who truly does. Bachmann is a moron and a zealot, and Perry is more or less a garden-variety Republican governor with too-strong ties to the energy industry, too-wacky evangelical beliefs, and an avowed loyalty to Texas over the United States.

I would never vote for Romney but I actually think he'd be a decent President. Unfortunately for the Republican party, their slate of candidates this go-round is kind of like the Island of Misfit Toys. It's very analogous to 2004 in that way - Obama is not especially popular, and would be vulnerable to the right Republican ticket, but that ticket does not exist. I would expect him to win re-election relatively easily barring some major, as-yet-unforeseen development.

Yes, I mean LtCol West.

p.s., What history of torture? I assume you mean the time he put his career on the line to protect his soldiers. Good for him. That is what a great leader does.

You have remarkably low standards for a "great leader." I am a former military officer myself (just as you purport to be), and I see no signs of "greatness" in Allen West. The man he tortured was an Iraqi policeman, not an insurgent or terrorist (indeed, West himself later agreed he was likely wrong that the man had anything to do with a supposed plan to assassinate West). He's a cheap coward and was appropriately drummed out of the service. Only a political movement as fundamentally brain-dead as the Tea Party could have resuscitated a moron like West to run for office, much less for President.

Romney is a moderate. Either that or Obama is a conservative, because they're exactly the same.

I'd vote Obama over the three clowns in the poll choice. At least he's not a bible thumper.

What about Gary Johnson?

Of all the republican field, he seems OK to me. I wouldn't vote for him because of a couple key issues, but he seems like he isn't crazy, unlike some others.

I like Johnson, though he doesn't seem to be a viable candidate this go-round. I would certainly take him over Romney, Perry, Bachmann, Pawlenty, Cain, etc . . .
