Romney lost because...

This is new territory really. The Reps have already pushed well into the realm of fascism. By going even further to the right they will be breaking new political ground. Though I have to say the term "conservative" has lost all meaning to Republicans. They're like sheep trying to hide under each other, each careful to always state he/she is more conservative than those other Republicans. It's sort of like high school boys afraid of being called sissy who try to out manly each other.
 
Beyond any policy positions, if Romney had won this with the blatant lies and dark money that formed the backbone of his campaign it would have been an utter disaster for this country's already half-broken election system.

Republicans passed up a few candidates that would have put a pretty good smackdown on Obama and we were left with our poison pill. The fact Romney did as well as he did after the crap that came out of his mouth every other time he spoke is shocking, but speaks to how disappointed people were with Obama.

The Koch brothers gained significant power within the Republican party over the course of this campaign cycle. They will be the power brokers within the party for years to come.
 
Romney lost because he was not true to his own views. Take a look at the views Romney held off the air and tell me he did not have a real chance of winning this. He was smart, disciplined, proud of his faith, and exhibited nuanced views that Romney the candidate was so scared of showing.
