Romney leads Obama in a CBS poll

It has taken months of bad news, but Democrats increasingly believe that President Obama might just lose his re-election bid.
The latest wake-up call comes in the form of a New York Times/CBS poll showing Republican Mitt Romney in the lead not just among registered voters overall, but with women and independents.

The Times/CBS survey is unique in that the pollsters called back the same phone numbers they had a month before. In April, Obama and Romney were dead even. Now, Romney leads by 3 points overall. That’s still within the margin of error -- a statistical tie.
But the shifts with women, moderates and independents are all statistically significant. Obama lost 5 points with each of those demographics.

Electoral college.

Isn't it just something like 9 battleground states that will determine the election?
 
If Romney gets the nomination, then Romney will lose the electoral vote because the Democrats are contracting out the votes to be counted by a company in Spain. I'm not voting for Obama, but I think Romney would be worse than anyone could ever have possibly imagined. Romney is a national socialist from hell and the Democrats aren't quite as anti-market as the Republicans. It's hard to imagine now, but Obama's deficits are going to look miniscule compared to those of Romney if he becomes President.
 
The problem with Romney isn't his policies. It's that he's exactly the same as Obama (and Clinton, Kerry, and Edwards). He is so completely transperent in his saying literally anything to get votes, it makes taking anything he says seriously an exercise in insanity.

I'd rather have someone be genuine that I disagree with 50% run than a complete liar who is telling me things they think I want to hear. People make fun of Nader, but I actually respected that guy. He may not have won much of the vote but at least he didn't sell himself out (at least to the degree these others have...if there was anything to even sell out to begin with).

This is what makes Romney unelectable. You mine as well stick with O'Bummer, a known quantity, than elect Romney.

The economy would have to decline horribly for Obama to lose. That being said, if you seriously vote for Mitt Romney you honest to god have no principles what so ever and you deserve to be crushed come November.
 
Are you guys know when the debates between Obama and Romney are going to start? I mean, televised debates.

I believe that after the RNC (late august) the real campaign will begin. Therefore, the real fight between the candidates.

Of course these polls are valid. But I see it more like a kind of "appetizer"; a thermometer of what the 2012 campaign is going to be.

But looking at RCP, Obama has an average advantage, regarding the lastest polls. On the other hand, this CBS/Times poll shows a new trend and must be observed closely in the next coming polls. Of course you have to consider the margin of error. But nonetheless, Romney still lead.

One factor that favored Romney over Obama was the same-sex marriage support that Obama did, according to poll:

You can argue that these voters already had Romney as candidate. But looking among the independents (maybe this group has power to decide the election? I don't know. You guys could know better than me), the same-sex marriage support made by Obama doesn't was a good call, electorally speaking:

Technically that isn't true but as a practical matter, most of the analysts seem to think so. Which is why Obama's 6 point lead (based on multiple polls averaged together) is a problem for Romney. His poor ratings in the mid-west in general, likely due to his opposition to the auto bailout, is more generally the problem, as states like Michigan can sometimes be sheered off by the right GOP candidates.

What have you done to get campaign financing passed so that the money of a few interests doesn't control who can win? Oh, nothing?
