So Romney has no trouble investing in 2 of our "biggest enemies" according to him, China and Iran. Forget what I say in public if I can make a buck off it, hey that's capitalism.

Really Mitt, I guess its ok to get "tough on China on day one" when you've already cashed in your payload.

Presidential candidate Mitt Romney promised in 2007 he would shed any investments that conflicted with Republican positions on hot-button domestic and foreign policy issues. But Romney's family trusts kept some of those holdings and repeatedly bought new ones until 2010

The continual trading between 2006 and 2010 raises questions about why the investments continued for three years, even after Romney said in 2007 that the trust would sell off any conflicted holdings. Those trades came during a period when Romney has sought to convince voters of his conservative Republican values.

I would rather have the investment here, but you do realize that all American citizens invest in those countries when we shop at Walmart and buy gasoline?

Maybe, but I would expect more from anyone running for President who promised to divest these holdings but continues to buy for 3 more years.
At the same time demegouge "getting tough" with these two countries.

Of course they do - once when they buy the product and again when they pay for subsidies for oil companies and for Walmart's push to their workers to draw on government benefits....

Romney the businessman: "It's just business".

Romney the pres. candidate: "Except when I need the votes".

Romney the ex-candidate: "Like I said, it's just business".

The guy flips and flops worse than a freshly caught tilapia tossed on a hot asphalt road in the middle of summer.

proof...............link..............

Aren't those bridges that the Chinese firm is building in California partially paid for by stimulus money?

Our economy is a sham, lied to for years that we're capitalists running a free market, what a hoax. Mixed market and has been since long before we were alive.

Also, anyone who owns anything that says made in China is no less guilty than Romney so who's going to throw the first stone?

Politics should not get in the way of making money.

When google stockholders asked the company about censoring search results for the chinese government, the ceo said the company was there make money.

This is a capitalist society, we do whatever we can to make money

wait, was this in his blind trust?

edit: yes, in the article it says it was the blind trust. in which case romney can't control anything. in fact, he doesn't even know what's held (hence "blind"). he gets a check at the end of the month/year, and that's it.

Any gains on this blind trust is also taxed as a capitol gain so the US government gets their cut of the pie.

Thats capitalism for you. Outsourcing jobs is just as vile as investing in foreign companies is, yet Obama gets no slack for ignoring the issue.

"Age Old Ruse":

- Political Optics don't look good, just like his investments in foreign currencies (don't know if they were hedges on foreign investments, or as it is likely to be spun, outright betting against U. S. dollar).

- It does show very poor political judgement, or I suspect more likely, outright disdain that rules that apply to everyone else just don't apply to him or anyone else of his (plutocrat) social class (i. e. he doesn't care what the populace thinks, as long as just enough people vote for him to get him into office).

Here it is.

http://abcnews.go.com/WN/obama-stimulus-money-spent-overseas/story?id=10002592

Senate Democrats lashed out at the Obama administration on Wednesday, saying its stimulus wind energy program creates jobs overseas instead of in the U.S., and they're calling for the administration to put a stop to it.

An investigation by ABC News and the Investigative Reporting Workshop found that 79 percent of the program's money has gone to foreign companies, money that Schumer said was "federal tax dollars, the stimulus, which was sold as jobs in America."

It's fucking disgracefull you guys lash out at Romney for investing HIS OWN MONEY overseas but give Obama a free pass for spending Stimulus money (OUR TAX $$$)overseas.

It's all good when its your party.

I personally don't care what Romney does with his own money. But if I have a say in it, he should invest in me, and/or donate a million into my bank account. But I have no say in such things.
