mect (and others) are definitely right. Romney isn't endorsing the idea of that being a legal requirement, he's simply agreeing with the idea that business experience is critically important to a President.

I'm not sure how that's all that much better though, to be honest. So Romney doesn't think his running mate should be LEGALLY barred from ever being President, he just thinks Ryan lacks experience necessary for the job. That's hardly a "non-story" if you ask me, even if the original story is less than accurate.

You could view it that way. I suppose it depends on how you view the VP position. One perspective is that it is a backup for the president should he suffer an untimely death. Another perspective is that he is an assistant to the president. Under the first perspective, then yes, I could see this being a concern as you would want to find a running mate with duplicate skills to the president. Under the second perspective, the bigger concern would be finding someone with complementary skills rather than duplicate skills, or at least helps with a specific constituency. In the end, the choice of Ryan, and these attacks on Romney are all political games. You are certainly correct that the left can criticize the choice based on what Romney said, but then on the flip side, the right can compare the business experience present on each of the tickets. I don't think the left should make too much of this, because if they do, it could actually make an issue out of how much business experience each of the candidates has, and I don't think that will play to the democrats strength, especially with independent voters.

I did watch the video before posting, which is why I changed the incorrect "proposed" from the website to the less strong "endorsed" -- he clearly wanted that particular audience to think that he agreed with this idea, i.e. he endorsed it.

Then in the next town he probably endorsed something completely different . . .

I'm not "pro-Obama" but Romney really will say whatever he thinks will help him from one week to the next.

Good god, but this is getting ridiculous. How the hell is this inconsistent?

This isnt inconsistent with his proven track record of consistency, or lack thereof. Romney is a liar and a flippity floppity rat, its a shame that I have to vote for him.
