I watched most of both seasons of Carnivale and thought it sucked, hard.

The show is co-produced by the BBC and HBO. That explains the brit accents. BTW, they wouldn't have italian accents, either. No one know what accent they had then. I believe latin was the main language.

I thought it was great. It was sad seeing Caesar getting killed. I kinda liked him. Too bad he doesn't say "et tu Brute" though.

The Red October had an almost entirely UK/Aussie accented crew (hidden by rather slight Russian voice coaching).

Just watched it... intense is all I can say. Heart was thumping just prior to Caesar's assassination. 'course... heart was pumping during the arena scene last week too.

I believe it was good that they didn't go the "et tu Brute" route. One can only speculate what his last words were, but it was Shakespeare that got everyone thinking it was "et tu Brute." It would have made it feel kind of cheesy to me.

I can't wait for the next season. If they continue to follow history, the stories only get better from now until Octavian becomes Emperor (next season finale?).

Rome is the best thing on HBO atm, period.

I didn't like the ending that much, felt rushed. I thought they could have done more with the dark omens of Caesar's death. Done more to build up on it. I'm surprised they haven't introduced Octavian's good friend Marcus Agrippa.
