ROME: Total War

I don't own the game, but almost all games nowadays have the manual in pdf form on the game cd/dvd. Just look through the folders on the game disc, and it should be there somewhere.

I did find a nice guide there. However, i am curious to get the original manual if possible, as it is lacking many bits of necessary info.
 
Try the OEM that made it - maybe they have a support section where you can download a PDF file.

What bits of necessary info? I haven't cracked the manual since getting the game.

Then again I'm a M:TW veteran...
 
well...for example, how long do you have to fulfill deals (such as promising to attack a faction). If you are blockading a port, can you request money every turn that the blockade is in place in such a deal, as if you are reattacking them every turn?
That's just a couple of examples.
 
And what exactly are the conditions of aliances? Must I attack their enemies present and future every turn? What if two allies collide? etc etc...

If two allies collide, it will ask you in game to choose one side.

You don't have to attack every turn. In fact, I think that there isn't that much effect if you don't do anything to help your allies.

There isn't exactly a turn limit... just if you don't do it after a while the ally will look down upon you.

By the way, go download Rome: Total Realism

It is a mod that tries to make things historically realistic. It improves the game, which is already great, ten times over. They are about to come out with a new version, however it probably won't be for another 3 weeks so go ahead and download the current one.
 
"after a while " = how many turns?
And If I fulfil a senate mission, can I stop it the next turn with no ill effects (ie attack the Greek cities, and then make peace the next turn)? And why not make alliances (and the subsequent hefty tribute) with every faction you encounter if you don't actualy have to honor it?

There isn't a set amount of turns. It depends on many factors. How much they like you. How much they like your allies. How much you trade with them, etc etc.

Really, the diplomatic system is the weakest part of the game. I just tend to ignore it for the most part.
 
I guess I can play that way. But there must be a system to it.
And diplomacy seems pretty powerful actualy - I make tons of $ from it, especialy alliance offers.
 
Utilizing diplomacy to that extent can actualy make the game far easier than it is supposed to be. But if it is fun for you that way, thats cool.
 
damn, one of my generals is missing after I fleed in a war. he went back to the capital, but was gone after I retrained him. any help?
 
I found the game getting longer and longer as i went deeper into the single player.. too many cities for me to control
