There are lots of theories of what "33" means on the back of a Rolling Rock bottle... Does anyone know what the real meaning of it is, if there is one?

We used to drink cases upon cases of the glorious green nectar, so we came up with our own tale of the the threes. (After much speculation about the truth.) We told it to all kinds of people, always with a straight face, and it is such a good story that it always passed as reality. :)

The founders of the company had tried unsuccessfully to sell their beer and get the company off the ground. They struggled for years before finally getting ready to throw in the towel. The partners were just about flat broke. They took their final, meager amount of cash and tried to figure out a way to salvage the business. The two desperate fellows decided to go for broke, and they headed to the track. Once they got there, they spotted a nag named "Rolling Rock" (the horse pictured on the bottle), and something about the horse caught the eye of the partners. They took the last bit of money they had and put it all on Rolling Rock to win. As the horses came down the stretch, Rolling Rock showed up on the outside and nudged out the other horses to win by a nose at the wire. The partners took the money they won back to Latrobe, and they were able to successfully save the company for good.

The odds on Rolling Rock? 33:1.
