I just hooked up my new Roku XD2 to my home theater setup downstairs.

Setup:
Pioneer 5010 TV
Onkyo TX- SR606 A/V receiver
JBL and Polk speakers
Panasonic BluRay
Cox Cable Box

When I connected the Roku HDMI to an HDMI on the Onkyo... will not get recognized.

The Roku works, as I connected it directly to one of the TV's HDMI's. The problem here is that I then have to use the poor speakers from the TV, as everything runs thru the receiver.

How do I get the Onkyo to 'see' the Roku? I have a support request in to Onkyo but this will take several days...

Anyone?

Thank you...

Hmmm i sometimes had a problem with my WDTV and my onkyo 607. Same sort of deal where the WDTV wouldnt show through the receiver. not all the time but sometimes. I did find just unplugging the hdmi cable from the wdtv (with it on) and plugging it back on usually fixed it though. might be worth a shot......that happens maybe 10% of the time as a reference for me. And turning on/off the wdtv doesnt fix it either, have to unplug it for some reason.

Someone elsewhere suggested connecting a composite cable that came with the Roku to the composite in on the receiver for the audio... you can have both HDMI and composite?

Or optical cable from TV to receiver?

Who's on first? I'm a dazed and confused noob here.

I have the 606 as well and there turns out to be a known problem with this unit. The HDMI board caps go bad causing it not to be "seen" and the on screen menu to go away. There is a guy on ebay that repairs these bad caps but it will cost you shipping to him and $75. And for that he will repair the unit with better caps and get it all working again like new.

I have yet to send mine to him due to the fact I just lost on screen menu but my HDMI switching is still ok. If this makes no sense just google or youtube TX SR606 HDMI and see what I am talking about.

If yours gets covered under some sort of warranty through onkyo LMK for I will like to send mine in and by all accounts they should fix it for it is a well known problem with this unit and a few other models.
