I haven't had broadcast TV, or a TV at all, in fifteen or more years.
Wife and I watch netflix online a few nights a week, 27" HDMI monitor on my box, audio
out to RCA's in an old Onkyo reiever.
I've been unhappy with phone app media remotes or XBMC type stuff, partly because they are buggy/unstable and I need my non-tech wife to be able to use them.
I bought a Roku 2 after making sure it would do HDMI video out and analog audio at the same time.
Only to discover to my dismay that it would not control the volume other than to the headphone jack on the remote.
My entire goal is to be able to sit on the couch and watch/browse/change volume on netflix with my Wife.
Anything else is cake.
And she needs to be able to do the same, being non-technical.
So a phone app or a $200 remote is probobly out.
The Roku interface is fine, it's performance is fine, it's simple wifi direct remote is sweet, I really like the little thing.
But I need volume control from the same remote.
Any options? I've searched around and not found any.
Spending a bit more money is an option, major hardware changes are not.
