This is for my home PC though...which is already sitting behind a nice checkpoint FW so maybe that's why, but I'd imagine it'll be fine as a standalone PC on the internet.

Has anyone tried putting a windows xp machine out there with the fw turn on and no exceptions? I know if you do this with a windows 2000 machine, it'll get hacked under 30 minutes...but what about xp? I'm interested in running this experiment, unfortunately I don't have a spare PC and I don't want to use mine 🙂
