Rofl @ PCI

It does make sense for someone needing 4 displays at high resolutions, but still...

6200 x2 SLI? 1 GB RAM for a 6200? Gaming doesn't get more awesome!

it probably doesn't need 1GB of ram.

it has 8 ram chips. the smallest DDR2 desktop chips you can probably buy now are 1 gbit x 8. for 512mb dimms with 4 chips.

so i would figure since its a reasonably new card thats probably why. decent solution for 4 monitors though.

Would this power 4 x 22" LCDs (each at 1650x1080) effectively for normal 2D work?

We're looking to upgrade a workstation to a quad-monitor setup and were looking at a 4850x2 with 4 DVI outputs. It's twice as much as this card, though, and we really don't need that much horsepower.

Who cares if somebody posted it before. I didn't see those. Never would have searched for it either.

I did see this and really got a kick out of knowing something like that exists. Thanks for posting.

Wild. 😀

I'm not sure but if it did I am sure it would save you $$ on your electric bill.

I was actually quite stunned how much it costs to run a 4870x2 in 2D mode if left on 24/7/365.

$242 a year in electricity just to power the video card in 2D mode or ~idle. (assuming the computer was left on all the time)

Maybe I'm missing something here, but doesn't the PCI bus severely limit available bandwidth to the card, and thus, limit card performance, regardless of its specs? That's the only "funny" or "sad" thing I see about this product.

I'm not too knowledgeable on PC architectures, so apologies if my interpretation is wrong.

It does but no one is gaming on this thing, its just so you can run 4 monitors easily.

You guys are missing the best part, take a look at the art on the package. wtf? Seriously who designs this stuff? Is that Ghandi?

Why not use 2 separate cards, each connected to 2 monitors? Should be a good deal cheaper than a dual gpu card.

As niche as this card is (ie worthless for gaming, and thus worthless to most of us here 😛), I have to say its extremely cool for being an "outside the box" solution to a legit situation (4 monitors, even with Aero)

Its a single slot PCI solution, so its going to be extremely compatible with an incredible range of rigs and its also probably more power efficient than two cards.
