has no one made the Brady Bunch connection yet? Wife's name Carol; six wonderful children; would-be hacker named Peter; youngest daughter who is a squealing rat named Cindy.

Wow that was bad. With the execption to his rule#5, he's mischaracterizing thousands of kids. And his holier than thou approach he takes at monitoring his kids just proves it doesn't work if he let his kid get that far.

I'm really not going to comment on the subject of the paper because many have pointed out the innumerable flaws in this man's arguement. What I would like to focus on is the man himself.

He starts off saying: ""As an enlightened, modern parent"" That really shows us his personality. Not only is he arrogant but he enjoys teaching others on a subject he obviously has some serious flaws in. ie his son becoming a "hacker" in his own house.

He tried to pass the blame off to his wife by saying he trusted her "motherly instincts" giving him an excuse as to why he failed as a parent.

More talk of how his son "betrayed the principles" with an embedded link in that quote to Bill Clinton's autobiography, obviously showing his political affiliation. Now its turned from a egocentric helping tool to a self proclaimed autobiography.

What I see in this paper is a man who comes from a very strict moral background (which is great) but twists it into a punishing tool he uses to judge his children and wife. He has a very hard time admitting his own mistakes and instead, passes them along to his family.

His arrogance in the midst of a dismal failure as a parent without any acknowledgement of his own failures or trying to understand his son's interest shows the regidity and force of a man who is unwilling to change even for the sake of his family and would rather preach to others what they should do instead of what he should be doing for his own family.

<<If your son has requested a new "processor" from a company called "AMD", this is genuine cause for alarm. AMD is a third-world based company who make inferior, "knock-off" copies of American processor chips. They use child labor extensively in their third world sweatshops, and they deliberately disable the security features that American processor makers, such as Intel, use to prevent hacking. AMD chips are never sold in stores, and you will most likely be told that you have to order them from internet sites. Do not buy this chip! This is one request that you must refuse your son, if you are to have any hope of raising him well. >>

LOL

Things I find funny about this:

he linked faster video cards to matrox.com 😛

From the article, listed as a hacker's manaul... ""The Cathedral and the Bazaar" by Eric S. Raymond.

Linyos Torovoltos... Dang, can't we ever learn how to spell the most simple things???

Lunix is extremely dangerous software, and cannot be removed without destroying part of your hard disk surface. (his extensive computer knowledge - *cough* *cough*- is being revealed more and more)
