ROFL! Edmunds Gives WRX-Haters a Platform!

sigh... i like the WRX sti of the gen before the current one. that design makes the car look cheap for some reason. why not follow the cues from their legacy gt? the legacy is a awesome looking car. 🙁

They missed the fact that the crude Planet of the Apes chop was a tongue-in-cheek jab against all the naysayers, not Subaru. Nasioc-ers whine and cry about every new Impreza facelift or redesign. Then rush out and buy them. It's comically predictable, made even more so by the fact that Subarus have never been attractive cars in the first place. Edmunds screws up again!

BTW, with the newer pics out, I'm slowly coming around to the new look. It's not bad at all. Hell, with flared fenders and a more aggressive stance and front-end, I'm thinking the new STI (when that finally debuts) is gonna look pretty damned hot.

I disagree. These are not cars that compete on looks. Plus, Mitsu is departing from the blessedly tried-and-true holy grail of all that is tuning 4G63 and moving to a whole new platform. Given Mitsu's horrid reputation for reliability, combined with the fact that the new platform will almost certainly be less tunable than the previous (for the first few years at least), while the tune-ability of the STI platform (which is being carried over to the 2008 model) is continuing to evolve and, quite frankly, I'd say you couldn't be more wrong.

So that is face number 4 in 4 years? Yeah, Subaru has a handle on their designs.

No, this is the first complete redesign in 6 years. The Subaru facelift cycle is 2 years.

I almost bought a Legacy GT and think that it is one of the prettiest cars on the road. I think the 2004/2005 WRX, while not the prettiest car in the world (pictured), is not bad at all. The new WRX looks like ass to me. It does nothing to bring me into a showroom unlike the 2004/5 car. It looks too much like the new Focus but a lot worse.

I prefer the BugEye WRX more so than the one you linked to.
It was ugly at first, but it kinda grows on you

This one looks more generic. The other WRXs looked very distinct from all the other cars on the road, but with this one it just looks like they're following the general syling trends of the industry.

It looks OK to me....but then again I've never been a fan of the WRX, and I have taken great joy the many times I have wizzed passed one that was trying to race me....but then again 6 and half litres of Ford V8 will do that....Oh I wish I still owned that car 🙁

oh no, it's growing onto me now, hehehe.

haha that happened when audi introduced the newer, larger, more aggressive grille. at first i thought it was hideous.. but man, now i think its fvcking awesome 😀

without a doubt. I'm almost convinced that the evo X will be my next car.

without a doubt. I'm almost convinced that the new Lancer ES will be my next car 😉

really... it's built on the Galant platform at the price of a Lancer. So that's like paying for a corolla and getting a camry. And it LOOKS reallly nice. It reminds me of the previous gen Galant that has the VRM model.

mitsubishi reliability worries me enough to stop me from getting one. on the other hand, i think the design of the subarus is getting scarier by the generation. wtf.

What's wrong w/ the exterior? Interior sucks, looks like my 96 Accord minus the GPS system (not kidding)
