I recently switched from my logitech 4 button mouseman+ to an optical mouse (microsoft Intelliemouse) to see how I liked it. Being someone that plays a lot of quake online, I've gotta say that the optical mouse just didnt' feel right. It wasn't as responsive as my ball mouse and I ended up get fragged in quake matches by guys that I would usually beat like a rented mule simply because I couldn't make a lot of the moves that I was used to making with my ball mouse.

Long story short, I switched back to my logitech mouseman. However, even though I unistalled the intelliemouse software and then reinstalled the Logitech mouseware, the movement on my old mouse just isn't the same. It's jittery when I move the cursor across the screen and if feels as though my cursor is "snapping" to some kind of tiny unseen grid.. If I move the cursor extremely slow, I actually can see it jump in very small units instead of moving in a smooth line.

Does anyone know what has happened? My guess is that there is some sort of residual effect due to the microsoft intelliemouse software but that may just be my knee-jerk reaction to blame micro$oft for anything possible. Has anyone else experienced something similar to this? If so, is there an easy fix?

thanks?

Even when you use ProgamX's uninstall proggy, it still leaves a mess in your registry. Do you have some kind of REGCLEAN program you could use to find orphaned .dll's? That is the prob. Personally, I use Norton SystemWorks Pro. Not the best thing, but it does the job. You need to clean the registry.

ps.
I still use an old fashioned two button + scroll wheel PS2 mouse. There is nothing better and I've played with most of the "toy mice" with the 24 blinking lights and "alternate fire" buttons no human w/an opposable thumb could ever use.

Get a logitec optical wheelman +.

Same mouse you are used to, and much better than the MS mouse.

I bet you used the USB port and your optical mouse. Use your ps/2 port, and set your refresh to 200. (No one chime in that refresh over 70 doesnt matter, it DOES to any hardcore FPS gamer).
