I recently tried to upgrade a friend's computer from Win98 to Win2K. While every other hardware is recognized correctly, the modem itself seems to be a real headache... I discover that the modem is an ISA one based on Rockwell RSS chipset(read the Win98 drivers), and there is a copy of Win98 driver...but Win2K can't use it and doesn't seem to have this particular driver, either.

Please help me out...I have tried several driver databases online but can't seem to find it...
 
i would suggest looking at the serial numbers, and other numbers on the board, and searchg the web to find out the EXACT model of the modem. Then you will be able to find the drivers. Cuase sometimes even the drivers made for the chip dont work for the modem because a 3rd party company used the chip to make their modem, and some of the commands could be different. Which is why its not working.
 
Not all the modems have win2k/NT support. BB?, CC? or Compusa? has modem for free after rebate sale. Check it out. But, look if it has NT/win2k support.
