Well, there is post after post after post about people being banned for using the single player field of view mod.

Maybe these people are using something else, although they say they are only using that single player FoV mod... but all of them?

Getting upset is one thing. Freaking out without clarification is another.
I fully expected the Online restriction and assumed single player would be exempt.
As long as single player is untouched and modding is allowed, this is not a big deal.

Just my 0.2

That solves that then. I won't be buying this game. Mods are the only thing that saved IV on the PC. These game companies never learn. They just BEG for people to hate them.

Lol..what is there "to save" about GTA V? It's one of the best games I ever played. Your loss really.

Sounds like a standard disclaimer to me. But let's assume they would really "ban" modding, GTA V is still a great game.

From the horses mouth. No you will NOT be banned for single player mods.

I’m having soo much fun with GTAV on the PC but I just have one question about it, how come you are not allowing mods for it?” - @ClarkMatthew63
“Will I get banned from GTA Online for using a FoV Mod or Oculus Rift mod?” - @Mattophobia

We have always appreciated the creative efforts of the PC modding community and we still fondly remember the awesome zombie invasion mod and original GTA map mod for GTAIV PC among many other classics. To be clear, the modding policy in our license has not changed and is the same as for GTAIV. Recent updates to GTAV PC had an unintended effect of making unplayable certain single player modifications. This was not intentional, no one has been banned for using single player modifications, and you should not worry about being banned or being relegated to the cheater pool just for using single player PC mods. Our primary focus is on protecting GTA Online against modifications that could give players an unfair advantage, disrupt gameplay, or cause griefing. It also bears mentioning that because game mods are by definition unauthorized, they may be broken by technical updates, cause instability, or affect your game in other unforeseen ways.

Not spending money is never a loss. Never understood that stance. With practically 40 years of games at your fingertips, there is never a loss of something else to try that doesn't make you jump through hoops and missing one, regardless if it is considered good or not (and that is highly debatable) isn't that big of a deal. I've only ever so-so enjoyed any GTA game.

On the update, interesting - but sounds like they screwed up.

Given how the industry usually operates can you blame them?

Yes, I can.

It's really very simple. You stop giving them money. There's a hilarious screen grab somewhere on the tubes of a Boycott MW2 Steam group shortly after launch. They're all playing MW2. And yes, the reasons they were boycotting were still very much intact.

It's one thing to voice your concerns. Gamers aren't even good at that. They just moan and piss on ANY news coming out of the industry. No one waits for clarifications, and we get waste of time threads like this one.

But where gamers at large fail the hardest is putting their money where their big, fat mouths are. Gamestop did a thing I didn't like years ago. Haven't shopped with them since. I've pretty much quit on Capcom, and Konami looks like they'll be following suit.

At least some people are taking action and voting with their wallets. They're doing it while being misinformed, so it's kind of a wash in this case.

It's the same argument for lack of innovation in the industry.

Name any other industry that gets away with this kind of customer abuse that keeps the customer returning. It's hard to blame the corporations when the gamers keep rewarding their behavior.

I'd not be surprised if people are doing more than using FOV mods. There's trainers out there that give you infinite ammo, let you warp, unlimited health etc.

What's a trainer?

A standalone piece of software that modifies game files and enables all manner of cheats, most commonly things like infinite ammo or godmode. The trainers for GTA V are getting quite robust, and now offer things like guns that fire cars instead of bullets, or turning the player into any animal in the game at will. "Trainer" is the polite term used for these cheat engines when run in singleplayer; in multiplayer, they are "hacks."

I have been looking at the mods out there and they don't seem all that useful. Lots of silly stuff. I am looking for something to make it easier to find rare vehicles in single player. Like the Shitzu Hakakusho (Suzuki hayabusa look alike). I got one but I can never find it again.

If anyone bothered to read the EULA, this is word for word indentical to the EULA for GTA 4, as well as the EULA that was released back when GTA 5 originally came out for consoles.

This is the SAME EXACT EULA, there hasn't been an update, people are just finding this passage, connecting to people getting banned and saying "OMG SEE PEOPLE ARE GETTING BANNED AND HERE IS WHERE IT SAYS THEY CAN BAN YOU!!?"

That is soooooo standard, and not any different from the original EULA of GTA 4 and tons of other games.

I really hate the internet some days, bunch of cry babies some times.
Crybabies and people who mindlessly parrot what they read without an ounce of thought or research. I am Jack's Complete Lack of Surprise.

So basically, this thread should be locked/removed. The title is wrong and misleading and it is not corrected until later in the thread.

People banned from an online game for cheating would never lie about what they did. Right?

I am a little concerned.

I use a utility called x360ce to make the game use my joystick. I can't play without it. X360ce puts a xinput1_3.dll in the GTAV folder. It doesn't modify the game-files. It doesn't really alter the game. It's not a cheat. It's just a convenient tool for people without a gamepad. But it is a so-called "injector". Some cheats work via injectors too.

Another tool I'd like to use is SweetFX. Nowadays called ReShade. It allows you to change visual stuff. Nothing with cheating. Just add SMAA (if you don't like TXAA or FXAA). Increased color saturation. Add extra sharpness. I use it in many game, to improve the graphics. SweetFX works via an injector too. Would Rockstar recognize this ? Or would they just ban you the same, if you use SweetFX or ReShade in an online game ?

It's a sad place, when you can't have a bit of fun without some wanker having a go, there's has to be a built in line, single player, MOD away. Multiplayer won't work with any mods detected. Have a separate sever system. Stop the online on the fly shite for one. And two we don't buy the game we licence it from them to play. My arse. I work for my money, so I can buy the game I want.
