Ok, changing the setting to "Fast" from "Fine" fixed the problem. Did not notice any lag after making that switch and I played for another couple of hours. So thanks again for the help, that was a great and a very easy fix!

I think I have to take a break from the game though, my fingers are killing me. :D

You're not a real player until you play until you fingers bleed!

Haha, it feels like I'm close. I'm sure I will play some more when I get home from dinner tonight. Couple of drinks in me and I know I'll want to hammer away. :p

It gets better after awhile. You develop callouses on your finger tips and can play for hours without any discomfort.

Do make sure you wash your hands after playing before doing anything though. You can get metal dust from the strings on your fingers and rubbing that in your eye is bad.

Yeah I figured. I've noodled around for years, but I never really sat and played properly for any extended amount of time, so I am feeling it now. Wrist was getting tired too.

Slowly but surely...

How does the 2014 edition compare to the first one? I have the first and thought it was pretty good, as I am a guitarist, but is the 2014 ver much much better?

I only own 2014, but my friends say it's MUCH better than the original. In terms of latency, and also in the readability and completeness of the "tabbing" implementation.

Pretty big improvement. The UI for the first one was pretty awful. There's still some things about 2014 I don't like but it's a lot better. There's also a couple techniques that 2014 can detect that the first one couldn't.

Isn't 2014 also better for people that aren't novices? If I remember correctly, the original wouldn't let you select the difficulty level or something like that.

I had the same lag on the original game. The cure I found was to hook up an optical cable from my console directly to my receiver, bypassing the TV for sound and changing the sound output to optical on my PS3. Made a world of difference.

Fun Game...Good Luck!
