I stumbled across this @ supergo.com and found this really good deal. For all you non-bikers out there. This is a XC mountain bike front suspension fork. Not as nice as zoch's, or some manitou's, but at this price, this is a good deal.

They have "electric" yellow and blue with specs as follows

1 1/8 - 265mm, with 80mm of travel.

Link HERE!

Sweet deal, thanks! However John, i have found some other better deals than supergo.com, so i kinda don consider it the "newegg" of bicycle shops <ducks & runs>. my $0.02. Btw, anyone here rode the Trek Fuel 80? I'm about to buy this bike & sell most of the components for better ones 🙂.

If you happen to live close enough to drive to one... they have in-store midnight madness sales a couple of time a year. They off 'take-off' forks @ 99.00. If the stearer tube is long enough for your frame you can get incredible deals. Many riders trade up from pretty decent forks.
Comparisons are odious(Supergo is Supergo is Supergo). Reviews of fs bikes are a very good idead. Found 13 reviews of said bike here:

Fuel 80, 13 reviews so far

pretty highly rated so far🙂

Wish I lived near a supergo. I've been wanting a Specialized stumpjumper fsrxc for friggin ever now, but supergo only sells specialized instore. Sux for me...

nice shock....wish i had the money to upgrade my bike....thinking about selling it at the moment actually

anyways, the blue one is only 229🙂

my roommate wants to sell me his Marzocchi Marathon S fork for $400 (brand new). Only problem is $400 is a LOT of money for a bike fork imho. Will this last me a lifetime? I'm not sure if it's worth the purchase, maybe i'll just ride my hardtail w/ hard fork & use my body as suspension?

Reviews

MTBR is fairly reliable--bikers are pretty open when they make a buying mistake--often because you can get hurt if your stuff sucks. 🙂

was just at mtbr.com, read both reviews of both forks. The only advantage of the Marzocchi's seem to be that they are slightly (~0.2lbs) lighter than the Duke Race (~3.4lbs) & 1 review claimed that the Marzocchi Marathon S could truly steer, "[unlike the rockshox]". Because all those reviews were very subjective, im still undecided. Any experienced advice would be helpful.

IgoByte, i checked all the latest prices & they're all in the same range ($589-$602). But if the value of this fork drops below $400 I'll be upset. This is why the rock shox looks a better deal, but i'm concerned about longlivity & performance since I'm a student & can't keep paying money 4 repairs.

In my experience, the previous year's Marzocchi forks are nearly always available at deep, deep discounts. I would have a hard time seeing this as an especially good price. I personally prefer the Bomber forks, but nowadays all of the major brands are pretty good and often available at closeout prices (Marzocchis are somewhat less plentiful on the blowout market), so why buy used?

Thanks Don_Vito, im passing on the marzocchi's. 🙂

btw, IMiIKo & anyone else that buys this fork, please write a review or pm me regarding its performance since I'm interested. -dejacky🙂 can the length of steer tube on the rock shox be shortened via cutting saw? Will this damage the fork or impede its performance in any way? Thanks in advance.

There is no problem cutting the steerer of any threadless fork. This is a necessary part of fitting it to a bike. If your bike has an older, threaded headset, it will make it somewhat costly to fit a newer, threadless fork, since you will also need a new stem and upper headset cone and race. Assuming your bike is less than, say, 6 years old, it will definitely be threadless and the fork will be an easy install. I would not advise installing it yourself since cutting the steerer is a bit tricky, and you need a proprietary tool to set a star-shaped nut into the steerer once it is cut. Make sure that whoever installs it leaves you with some extra steerer length so you can throw some spacers underneath your stem, leaving you the ability to adjust its height later.

If you're buying front shocks, just get the previous model year. No need to go dropping a ton of money on something that's only marginally improved.

$400 for a shock? That's what my whole bike cost (me)! I wouldn't put that much into a suspension on my car, let alone my bike 🙂
