I want the Rockies to win this one. I'm a very hardcore life-time Dodgers fan. Down with the Padres!! GRRrrrr.

don't they have a pretty good home field advantage? don't they win a higher ratio of home games than other teams?

Colorado is ahead in the season series 10-8. Colorado is tied for the second best home record in the NL. It seems like Colorado hits Peavy pretty good, therefore, I'm picking Colorado.

ill be the first in this thread to say it: go padres.

but id be lying if i said im not worried. but in a perfect world, peavy gets win #20, padres win 90 games, and i get to see peavy pitch saturday on the padres first home game of the nlds. but damn those colorado bats. hopefully we can light fogg up like we did earlier in the year (8 runs, 7 earned in 3 innings).

Too bad the game isn't on tv. I would love to watch it. Truly an amazing run by the Rockies and I wonder if its a sign of things to come from the franchise.

It's on TBS, as are all the NL playoff games.

it will never happen, but the chance for the world series to come to Denver gives me the chills.

I was going to try to go to the game, but when I went online for tickets last night it appeared to be sold out already. I have been going to games since 95. This is the first year I actually care about them after they got rid of their whole team several years ago.

Padres fans still confident?
scary numbers indeed. but he's done well this year against them (14 innings, 2 earned runs, 11 k's, 8 hits, 2 walks, 0 hr) but i think what worries me most is that jake hasn't always been a great big-game pitcher. he takes a lot of emotion with him out there and it can rattle him easily if he gets into a spot of trouble.

for comparison, fogg's numbers. our second pitcher is the best hitter against him. marcus giles wont start, brian will, barrett wont be the starting catcher as it appears from past history that peavy prefers bard calling the game, ensberg wont start... i just hope greene turns into the rockies killer that he's shown to be in the past. i mean the guy has 35 rbi's and 11 homeruns against them in the past couple of years!

Josh Fogg is the very definition of mediocre. A 60-60 career record with almost every season being one or two games above .500. It will be a mediocre pitcher vs. a mediocre offense and a high octane pitcher vs. a high octane offense. Should be fun.

it should be fun, but how come i have to root for a team that takes every single thing down to the wire?!?! the padres have single handily shaved three years off my life with the stress they have given me over the years. it should be a good one though.

Although in Josh Fogg's defense (don't tell anyone I've said that) he's been lights out in September with an ERA that's only .05 higher than Peavy's. Also, Matt Holliday has career domination against Jake Peavy. I don't remember the stats exactly, but he's batting around .450 with a few RBIs and an HR against him.

This should be a great, great game.

im also happy that two relatively-small media market teams are getting their shine, at least for a day. in fact, nothing would make me happier than a padres/rockies/diamondbacks vs. angels/indians world series match-up. ratings would be in the dumpster but they would still have to broadcast it and id love every single minute of it.

i know it. im off work at 4:30 so that gives me 7 minutes to get home in time for the first pitch. cars on the freeway better be parting like the red sea.

This has been a wild ride this year. The fans and sportswriters have been second guessing the manager and the front office decisions all year. Then, suddenly about the middle of September everyone decided to jump on the bandwagon.

Denver fans have broken the Bronco obsession thanks to the Nuggets and Avs, but this Rockies phenomenon is a sight to behold!

i don't know about that. the sports casters always start with the broncos even when the other teams are winning like the nugs or avs. I hate 9news they are the worst for not giving other Denver pro teams any respect. and dont get me on about MLS coverage. the rapids won the cup a few years ago and it was bearly a blurb on the news.

the Bronco obsession around here really gets on my nerves at times.

rockies strike for 2 in the bottom of the 1st inning. personally i think the ump is squeezing p-v a bit on the corners, but credit to the rockies batters for being patient and working the counts until they get a pitch they can handle and then doing something with it.
