Rocketraid and Asus A8N?

I just built my first system and I have a problem with a PCI Rocketraid 404 card. I installed Win XP on a raid 0 array of two sata raptors that are plugged into the sata slots on my Asus A8N sli motherboard. I have a bunch of old IDE drives that I want to take out of USB 2.0 enclosures and put inside my case, so I bought a Highpoint Rocketraid 404 to have 8 IDE channels to use (I do not plan to use its raid capabilities). Whenever I add a drive to the Rocketraid card and try to boot I get a disk boot failure message and I cannot boot into XP. When I remove the drive from the Rocketraid card I can boot into XP fine. I think that when a drive is connected to the Rocketraid card it tries to treat it as a boot disk and then stops when it cannot find an OS. Is there some way to make sure that the only place the motherboard looks for a boot disk is my raptors? Or can I tell the Rocketraid card to quit trying to boot the disks I connect to it? I looked at the Rocketraid bios and I did not see any options that would allow me to do it.
