Hi gang, I need to build a computer fast like for our FIRST individual recipent, she is 15 an sofmore in Highschool, her family doesn't make enough to afford a computer, and she is in need of one for school studies. (just what rock is for) I have parts and peices laying around the house, but was hoping to just get some really good stuff for the first person. I am working on tax exemption, I have the papers here, and will be going through them and submitting them very soon. after they are submitted I will be getting an OID (originzation Id Number) AKA EID (employer ID number) which you will need to beable to file them as deductible. I will give you a recipt aswell. lets build a computer 😀 what I need

1 250 - 300 watt PSU any brand ATX
1 ATX mid tower case
1 stick of 64 MB 100mhz memory (any brand)
1 AGP or PCI video card (I might have one or two I sold the ones I had to buy assorted parts that were a tad more needed)
1 PCI modem (I have a ton of ISA modems, just no PCI :Q)
1 CDrom Drive IDE (might have one)
1 Floppy drive (NEED ONE BADLY!)
2 gig hard drives (or 1 larger hard drive) I have a few 500 MB drives but I have those in the IBM PS-2's that will be going to a daycare.

I have been giving out machines and parts to local low income orginizations that specialize in childern, like head start, center for battered weman and childern, ect...YWCA

IDE cables would be great aswell.
 
I've got 2 floppies, 2 pci vid, 1pci modem, and a handful of ide + floppy cables coming your way. I'm stopping at UPS tomorrow to drop them off 🙂

What is ROCK? I was going to donate a 250W ATX PS but evadman beat me to it. If it turns out you need a PSU for some reason, let me know. I see Rusty has the modem's covered, but I've got a USB modem (with driver, cables, and manual) sitting in a closet if you end up needing that.
 
I need what you got 😉, ROck is Recycled Old Computers for Kids, we / I build computers for kids that are less fortunate and normally could not afford them for no cost. thats the brief 😉. we take anything that you can offer 🙂.

I have some old stuff too. What is the low end of the stuff you will take?

For example: I have some old 1 or 2MB PCI Vid Cards. Are those too old, too bad? I also have some floppy drives of various colors. One is brown, do you want that type of stuff?

I don't want to send junk that you won't use.


I also have an old EISA SCSI adapter. Got any use for that? 😉
 
narzy.....it sounds like you need everything or anything.....i have a few cases(mid towers).....power supply....pc 133 memory.....do you just want me to load up a box with all the stuff i dont need, and you can use, and send it to you???....if so let me know the address....

yep 😉...that works great actually, and it is true the project does need anything and everything 🙂.
 
I will be going to UPS as well Tim. Whatever I find in the garage will be heading out your way. Why did I think you were close by to me in North Carolina?

3 1/2 floppy

I'll donate from work (shhhhh 😉 ) tomorrow before I ship...

Internal US Robotics 56K fax modem
Some sort of PCI NIC
A keyboard if I can fit it in the box

Add a monitor and you're all set. 😀

I'll be using FedEx Express Saver. Oh, and if any of my fellow employees are lurking here and want to start trouble just consider that I haven't turned in any mileage expense for ages and believe me, they would more than pay for the modem, NIC, KB, and shipping on this *charity* item. (I really don't think they are - just covering my arse!) 😛
