Rock Band

Well I preordered the 360 version because that is the console I have. I'll buy a PS3 if uncharted and killzone 2 get amazing reviews.
 
PS3 Version. I'm digging the wireless GH3 controller and only the PS3 version comes with a wireless controller I believe
 
As someone mentioned in the GH3 thread, buy it for the system that's most common among your friends.
 
I won't buy it because I don't want another wired guitar. I'll wait until next year to buy the game separately along with the wireless guitar, drum set and microphone.

Oh but 360 most likely since I already have a wireless guitar (les paul) and a wired guitar (xplorer).

it's the ONLY reason I wish I had a 360, since none of my threads have a PS3. So sadly, I cannot share the fun with them. I'll be getting RB for PS3, and I know a buddy will be getting it for 360. Too bad, because unless another buddy gets it (only two of my close friends own 360's even), then we'll each only have one of each instrument. I'd love to do have drum battles, but alas. At least my buddy currently has a wired 360 GH2 guitar. I'll be starting off fresh due to lack of guitars currently on PS3, and the roomie is buying GH3 for 360, so I have no need to buy it, nor do I really want it right now anyway. Can't afford two games at the moment, down the road maybe.
 
My friends all have 360's...but i think i'm the only one getting rock band.

I like the wireless guitar on the PS3.

But the previews i've read have insinuated that the xbox version runs slightly better.

I cant decide.
 
Right now neither as I don't have either system. 😉

I want to buy a 360, possibly before Christmas. If I do I'll surely buy Rock Band I dunno when. I might wait for wireless guitars to come out for the 360.

The PS3 mic and drum set are going to be wired, regardless. Is one more wired peripheral really that big of a deal?

The 360 bundle for Rock Band is not releasing with a wireless guitar. The wireless guitar will come out next year for Rock Band and I assume it will not be in a bundle.

The Guitar Hero guitars do not work 100% with Rock Band by the way. There's some special thing you can do in Rock Band that you cannot do with the Guitar Hero controllers. According to IGN, the Rock Band controllers do not work with Guitar Hero once you're in a song (they supposedly work on the menus).

The Guitar Hero guitars will work fine in Rock Band except that they will not have the solo frets higher on the fret bar, which are not terribly useful for bass, anyway. They would not sell the software separately on November 20th if the existing guitars were that incompatible.

Also, the PS3 wireless Rock Band guitar is not bluetooth and therefore is still going to require you to plug a dongle into the front of the PS3, so you'll still be plugging three (or four) peripherals into your system. You would be saving that five-second unraveling process which I know made my life a living hell until the wireless Les Paul. 😛

I suppose you could leave the dongle in, but that thing would be really ugly sticking out of a respectable entertainment center 24/7 and my bengal cat would have it destroyed in an hour.

Anyone lucky enough to get a 40GB PS3 also only has 2 USB ports, so say hello to the same USB hub fun that xbox users will be experiencing. I'm personally lucky enough that I got in on the el cheapo HD-DVD drive deal last week so my 360 has four free USB ports so I won't have to use an ugly, cumbersome, AC-powered (gah, more wires!) USB hub.

It is very, very satisfying.

It combines the feeling of performing as a rock star with the gratification of pulling off sick button combos.

I don't know if you ever played fighting games, but it's a similar feeling to getting insane combos in that, only to music.

And the music is also a big part of it - if you aren't into rock or at the very least quality guitar performances, then it's probably not for you.

They are for the most part, there's just some special thing you can't do with them that Rock Band supports. Rock Band's guitars will not work with Guitar Hero 3 though.

Football? Sorry I only weigh 150, I don't want to die.

Military? Again with the not wanting to die thing, pfft what a pussy I am!

Jacking cars? I'd rather not go to jail.

Play a real guitar? I guess my only excuse is I'm too damn lazy to learn a real one, so I play a toy one.

Guitar Hero is an awesome game and people need to get over the whole "why don't you learn to play a real guitar" crap, just as much as the dopes who try to defend it with "why don't you join the military" idiocy.
