If I had a PS2 connector to USB adapter would I be able to use one of the old PS2 GH controllers in place of the RB guitar? Its becoming a chore to do some of the medium because of the bad quality of them and replacing it takes over 2 weeks. Edit: I forgot to mention this is for the 360 version.

Get the replacment. The RB guitar is soooooooo much better, especially for hard and expert modes. Dunno about the usb thingy as i have a 360. :)

I hate the RB guitar. Frets are placed a lot closer together. Don't like the clickless strum. The only "benefit" IMO is the strumless solo keys.

Thats one of the many things that is on my list of why the RB guitar sucks compared to the GH controller.

To further obscure the original point of your thread, I prefer the clickless strum and close frets (allows me to slide my fingers for the HO/PO notes).

1: No, the PS2->USB connector will not work. Only Rock Band guitars will work with Rock Band on the PS3.

2: The Rock Band guitar is superior to the Guitar Hero guitar in almost every way.

Yep, me too. I hate the clicketyclick of the Explorer guitar. The RB IMo is much better as it is also closer to the size of a real guitar and feels less like a toy. The close frets help on harder modes for quick slides.

I know that everybody has their own opinion but it boggles my mind that *anybody* could say that the RB guitar is superior to the GH guitar in almost every way.... even if you like the clickless strum bar which I could understand (though personally I like the click) there just isn't anything else good about the RB guitar... it feels so flimsy, I almost am afraid i'm going to snap the neck off just by playing it.... I mean I know that doesn't happen but it *feels* like it will. The stupid effects switch might as well not even be there, because it always gets bumped to "off" by my hand when I'm strumming the guitar... And I don't ever use the solo frets except for mashing on them during big rock endings. I'm not crazy about the whammy bar either, though I can get used to it after playing for a short time.

The game plays much better with the GH Les Paul... the LP feels sturdier and just plain works better. I've never had to replace a GH guitar through GH1, GHII, GH80's, and now GHIII but I had to replace my RB guitar in less than 2 weeks even though I had used the GH guitar more than the RB guitar.. only used the RB guitar a little bit to try it out and the strum bar broke from that little bit of useage.

I'm hoping for better quality from the 3rd party RB guitars that hopefully will be out soon.

I understand where you are coming from. I play real guitar and the thickness on the GH2 guitar just feels wrong to me. I like the RB guitar because it feels more real. I have small hands so the thin fret feels good to me, not like the fat plastic on the Explorer guitar. I also use a heavy-metal type of pick for the RB guitar and it works very well, I tried the pick on the GH guitars and was basically just double clicking.

I'm not a big enough nerd to use an actual pick on a plastic guitar, nor do I play a real guitar, but all of the Guitar Hero guitars look and feel like children's toys.

I agree that the build quality of the initial ones was pretty bad - at least the strum bar was - but that has since been fixed.

I'm also not sure what level a player you are, but playing Expert with a ton of shifting and hammer ons/pull offs, the flat Rock Band guitar is a lot easier to use.

Nerd? Hardly, If you played real rock on a real guitar you would probably feel more comfortable using a nice fat pick than your thumb. These guitar games are nothing like a real guitar but I find using a pick on the RB guitar lets me nail most of the notes in expert mode.

So using a pick with the RB guitar is possible now?! I think that could be a small fix for a little while until something else on it breaks.

And I liked the GH controller because it was more of a plastic play thing than a real guitar, which sort of made it feel less real. But I have some other things in RB that I want to be fixed over the guitar (like the bloody drum pads :|) but this will go further in reducing my RB peripheral hatred.

I like Rock Band guitar better. It feels more like a real guitar. The neck has the same feel as my friends Peavey guitar he had back in the late 80's and I loved that guitar. My hand can slide better over the frets on the Rock band guitar. It seems that people who played a real guitar seem to like the Rock Band guitar better. I just find it better in everyway.
