I know the game is called Rock Band but I would like less classic rock or heavy stuff and more radioish songs.

I also agree that Foo Fighter's - The Colour and the Shape would be awesome.

That's what Guitar Hero 3 is about. I'm playing the Career mode on Hard the past two days...there are only a handful of songs that are considered "popular" to us youngins. The rest are all either crap, classic rock, or both.

Least RB has DLC...the ones that have come out for GH3 have been absolute garbage, save the Foo Fighters pack. (Which was alright, would have wanted My Hero or Hey Johnny Park or something) Well that and the Halo theme, which kicks ass. :)

Sorry to say it...you youngins listen to garbage.

Amen. They dont know what real music is. All of these halfassed bands probably completely suck live. Im sorry, but wheezer? Puhlease!

All of a sudden, I have a terrible mental image of my regular Rock Band threadmates.

We also didn't have to walk to school barefoot in the snow uphill for 6 miles either, grandpa. ;)

Well I listen to old and new stuff. Mostly 90s and newer with some older stuff thrown in. I didn;'t mean that new music sucks. You said you wish they'd get some songs from the radio....Sorry 99% of the new stuff they play on the radio is garbage. :D

I'm making my prediction:

February we see DLC Full Albums. Think about it. All we've known about was what this week's was, and mow March's. Nothing revealed even for next week.
I seriously think we are going to see at least one full album release this month.

:)

The biggest problem I have with Rock Band is how easily the guitar breaks. It seems every corner of the internet is filled with stories of Rock Band guitars breaking, yet I've never even heard of a GH guitar breaking. I still have my 2 original ones from the first two games, they've never failed me.

That would be because the art of good musical composition was lost just as we reached the new millenium.

But seriously, this is just a difference in music taste. I'm only 22, and even I recognize that the 60s was the height of Rock and Roll musical composition. If you've listened to enough of the Beatles, you'll realize that you can identify pretty much every iteration of rock (alternative, metal, grunge, techno, etc.) in their songs. It's freaky when you actually start paying attention to these things.

Most good modern guitarists and singers idolize the old bands. Keep that in mind before you close your ears to the music of your parents' generation. There are some truly epic songs from that era.

I'm glad GH3 didn't just load it with crappy pop songs, to be honest. The modern stuff on there is great. I am a big fan of Muse :)

Between the disc and DLC, there were already four pre-Load Metallica songs (Enter Sandman, Blackened, Ride the Lightning, ...And Justice For All).

I hope they eventually start releasing more than three songs a week. At this rate, I have very little hope for my guilty pleasure emo stuff (Jimmy Eat World, Death Cab, etc :p). Go ahead, skewer me for it.

I feel a bit dumb for not realizing all that. I don't play often and haven't really kept up with the DLC. Serves me right for speaking without knowing.

As for a lot of the stuff being classic rock, my take is it's all about compromise. Most of the stuff has a playable guitar part, a playable drum part, and vocals pretty much anyone can sing. There is a ton of stuff I would love to play but it's probably just not feasible. I like that they added some heavier stuff, but you can't please everyone. I want to plead with Harmonix to add the localized Euro tracks as DLC. There are a lot of bands over there that just don't get noticed in the States. Hell I'd even be willing to try singing in German or Finnish or something.

THere was a big problem with the original run of GH2 guitars.

The RB guitars are fixed now. They changed the design.

My most wanted RB DLC is Muse.

That would be some sick drumming and singing.

There's so many good ones to choose from but Stockholme Syndrome would be up there. Also KOC if it isn't GH exclusive.

FUBAR, that's the name of the movie I was thinking of. Everyone I know who listens to Sabbath, Metallica, Zeppelin, G'nR, etc all look and/or sound exactly like the guys in that movie.

I associate mullets, cheap beer, and old tour shirts with flaming skulls (and/or snakes going through skulls, or through burning skulls... u get the point) on them with classic rock and heavy metal. Anyone who disputes that can take a look at any live show footage of a concert from ANY of those bands... hmmm.. what do you see?

At any rate, whoever said "wheezer, pulease" angers me. Weezer is one of the greatest bands to come out of the 90's that still put out great music. The first time I saw Weezer was back in 1997 in a small venue. It was the summer after Pinkerton came out, and it is probably the most memorable show I have ever been to (and I go to probably 10-20 shows a year). The second time they were rocking an arena after Maladroit came out (Pete Yorn opened for them), and they were still one of the best bands I had ever seen.

Don't get me wrong, there are some great classic rock songs, I will not dispute the greatness of Zeppelin and even some Metallica, but I think it's time that they add DLC from, oh I don't know, bands that either still exist, or at least came from the mid-to-late 90's to early 2000's. There is a lot of great playable stuff, and I am not alone when I say that I would like to hear from those bands.

Just not Nickelback (or as I like to call them: Jesus and His Shitty Band).

Oh, and I can agree that The Second Stage Turbine Blade may not be the best choice, I picked it because it is my favorite. No World for Tomorrow would definately have the most diversity.

OMG, Stockholm Syndrome would be intense!

see you people keep complaining but they HAVE RELEASED WEEZER AS DLC. More will come. Have patience. I want Pinkerton as full album dlc. Good description of Nickelback.

How about some Flock of seagulls? :) Or "Voices inside my head" from the Police. Great bass.

That's a good example of what I'd really like to see. Personally, my favorite music to actually listen to (The Who, LZ, AC/DC, Van Halen) does not always equate to what I most want to see made available in Rock Band.

I heard "Working for the Weekend" by Loverboy in the gym this morning and while I'd probably never put it on my mp3 player, I think it would be silly fun to ham it up with my friends in Rock Band. Same with stuff like "I Ran" by Flock of Seagulls, "Two Tickets to Paradise" by Eddie Money, or "We Built This City" by Starship.

EDIT: And right about now, everyone is extremely glad that I have no say in the DLC. :p

Trust me, Weezer kicks ass live and in my experience, so does Pearl Jam, Interpol, and Dave Matthews Band (before their last couple of albums, at least)! Every generation of music is full of halfassed bands, especially the 80s ;). Getting into a discussion of which bands are better is fun, but quite useless as everybody has their own unique taste in music--except for the fans of American Idol (they're all sheep!). :Q :)

I'm so addicted to the drums at this point that I'm worried I won't get back to the guitar in time for it to break and get replaced for free. When I unwrapped the guitar for the first time, it sure sounded like springs inside, but I don't know for sure.

I will say I do like the silence of it compared to the GHII guitar, though I still like the feel of the GHII guitar. The one complaint that I have with the RB guitar is the fret buttons pinch me at times depending on how I have my hand positioned while playing.

But Pearl Jam, Interpol, and Dave Matthews Band are not in RB. :) and yes, PJ kicks ass live, in fact I prefered them live. DMB, I am sick of them, only because I worked at BMG for over ten years and have heard then nonstop for too long. Wheezer is merely ok IMB, the point I was trying to make was that a good band, whether you like the music, style of music or whatever, if they cant kickass live then they are not IMO good. I may be old school Led Zep (im over 40) but I love all kinds of music. I am a huge fan of Hed P.E., RATM et....al, but the stuff in these games, especially the 7th (?) block of songs in GH3 just really reeks. On another note, RB is really geared for the drums. I have notied the guitar parts on RB are really easy unless played in hard or expert mode. GH2 and GH3 obviously focused more on the guitar (naturally because it call GUITAR HERO) but I wish they focused a bit more on the guitar in RB. I am planing to put the GH2 guitar inards in the RB guitar as I prefer the size and feel on the RB guitar. I can slide on the frets much easier on the RB guitar than the toy-feeling explorer.

I think all Pearl Jam and DMB would be big hits when people get together for their Band World Tour and Interpol has a lot of great tracks that I think would fit nicely in RB. Pearl Jam and DMB have a lot of songs that I bet a ton of people would enjoy singing. I can't imagine the guitar in DMB would be tough, but their drummer is pretty good, so maybe they'd have some decent drum parts.

I don't think we'll see Pearl Jam or DMB in RB anytime soon; I don't think either would license their songs for this, but hopefully I'm wrong. Interpol's a toss-up to me on whether they'd view licensing their work for RB would be ok in their minds, but I'm really hoping they would; I'd really enjoy pretty much all the songs off "Turn on the Bright Lights" and some from "Antics".

Just send it back and choose the strumbar broken option. That is what I did.

PJ is in GH so I don't see why they wouldn't license to RB at some point.
