Rock Band 2 - PS3

I have a ps3 coming in on Monday and I picked up rock band 2. How do I get the tracks from rock band 1 to play in rock band 2?

Is there a cheaper distribution than this 1.99 a song thing?

Thanks

you will need to aquire a copy of RB1... borrow it, rent it.. whatever. Then you will have to pay the $5 licensing fee to transfer the songs from RB1 into RB2. Then you can give the RB1 disk back.

At least that's how it works on the XBox360... haven't seen anything that says it works differently on the PS3... but if it is different i'm sure somebody will smack me. 🙂

To expand on what others have said, go into the Playstation store, go to the Add On section, choose rock band, and amonst the songs there will be a song export key for 4.99. Buy this and download it. Then put in the rock band 1 disc, and in the game under Extras, there will be an export option.

As far as other songs, buying them in the store is how I always go. There are a handful of songs that are free, and a handful priced at 99 cents, but most are 1.99. Also look for packs, as a 4 song pack will usually cost something like 6.50 as opposed to 8.00

Also, there is a code on the back of the rock band 2 book that you can go online and register, they give you yet another code, and you can put that code into the store for 20 additional free downloaded songs (no, you can't pick which ones)

I did not know this. I will try this first thing when I get home.

So..this has probably been asked before...if I buy songs or games on PSN and then upgrade my hard drive can I redownload it? Or do can I back those items up to a external hdd and then put them on a new disk. How does this all work?

I believe once you buy a song you can redownload it as many times as you want (assuming you're on the same PSN account).

Don't worry, you're not missing anything. The bonus songs suck.

Either way, the answer is yes.

Is there a similar way to do this with Guitar Hero? (get songs from Guitar Hero I-III into World Tour?)

The correct answer to this is:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

You're talking about the company that charges $20 to get ONLY 12 songs from GH1 on to GH2 on Xbox 360... and the same company that released a re-skinned 80's version of a game with half the songs but at the same price as the original.

Some of them are really fun actually.

The thing I find most funny about this response is the fact that the company that did the things mentioned here was harmonix/red octane. Neversoft didn't enter the picture until Guitar Hero 3... Now Harmonix is doing Rock Band and doing it right with the ability to import songs, but bashing Neversoft/Ea for the above "offenses" is wrong 🙂

Anyone have an answer to the following:

1. Need a (cheap, good quality) bass guitar, recommendations?
2. My PS3 isn't here yet so I haven't tried this. My PS3 is an 80gb, 2 USB ports. Do i need a USB multi to make this thing work with the 3 peripherals?

I see that on the guitar wireless box there is a side usb port but it has a bass guitar image on the port...wondering if my mic can go in there.

Thanks!

1. I know for 360 there's an official Bass guitar which I heard was pretty nice/cool. Haven't seen the same one for PS3, but there is another bass guitar brand for PS3 which doesn't look as nice to me.

2. You do not need a USB hub. Each wireless adapter has a USB port on it so you can basically daisy chain all the wireless adapters to just one USB port on the PS3.

Oh and I see not one Rock Band song is by Sublime.

If they came out of with a Sublime Rockband kit I think it would do excellent. Majority of people I know play rock band in a party atmosphere.

I still say they need a Disturbed Rock Band kit...and Maximum the Hormone....but there's alot of people with those desires 🙂.

One more question.

Gamefly has the Rock Band Track Packs for PS3. Can I rent these and use the code included with the game to download the songs to my PS3?
