Rock Band 2 Drums

Cliffs instead of a post:

Drums seem way off and ignoring the music entirely seems to work

Not very fun just hitting pads completely off beat to the ear.

Guitars/Mic are perfectly synced.

Any ideas?

I've felt the same about my set on my PS3. I actually wish I hadn't sold my RB1 drums because they feel so off to me. I also feel like mine have a dead spot on the yellow pad.

I prefer the RB1 drums to the RB2 set my neighbor has. Although hers aren't out of sync, I feel they have dead sopts.

I've noticed a few dead areas, but mostly the hits just come late constantly. I've calibrated for my tv, put it in gaming mode, and the other three feel -perfect-. I fear that if I calibrate using the drum's A pad that it will royally screw up the guitar/mic sync =

Gah.

I recently got into these "guitar" games after picking up 2 guitars last week.

I am contemplating now getting a mic and drums to have the whole set, however I have a few things I'm worried about.

I've played the RB1 drums and they are pretty loud. I live in an apartment and am wondering if you all who have used tem extensively think tey would be a lil too loud, or if the RB2 ones may be good. I am contemplating the RB1 drums since they are only $30 however. Does anybody have the pads that softenening the noise too? I'm wondering how they work.

I know they aren't wireless, which is nicer about the RB2 ones, and I hear the petal on the RB2 one is a lot nicer too, and I also heard the pads aren't quite as loud, but what you all are saying seems that you like RB1 drums better.

Also on the mics, I was goign to get tihs generic one I saw at BB for like $25 or so, and it comes with 2 mics. Anybody used them?

This is on Xbox360 btw, and so far I have not seen any sync issues w/the 2 guitars I have, which are 2 of the Les Paul ones.

purbeast0: The pads to silence it work quite well, but if you're more worried about hitting the drums than the music playing on the TV then someone is just flat out doing it wrong. Maybe whoever was playing was hitting the sticks on the edges a lot or something.

I wouldn't buy generic mics, especially ones that come in two-packs. They probably aren't compatible with rockband and are probably made for a different game. I can't see why anyone would put rockband mics in a two pack unless they know they are cheap pieces of crap and will break. If you hit up your local gamestops you might be able to find a used RB mic for $10-$20 as they break up all the parts of the set and sell them individually whenever someone brings them in.

OP: Write down your setting for your current calibration so you can revert to it, then just try adjusting the calibration to fit the drums. Your might also get a friend to try out the drums and see if they agree with you... it may just be either your reaction speed or the speed at which the drumset registers the hit... considering that the impact has to get through to whatever sensors they have... maybe you just aren't hitting it hard and fast enough, either.

The Rock Band 1 drums were notorious for falling apart after heavy use. Two of my friends who owned the RB1 kit have replaced the drums multiple times. My understanding is that the RB2 drum kit is a lot more robust.

There are some easy mods out there to help quiet down the drums. Check out this one:

MY RB2 drums are awesome. The calibration was a little different than the guitars but once I got it set, they are perfect. I highly reccommend the cymbals too.

I wish I had the extra $$$ for the ION drumkit. My buddy has it and its a world of difference from the RB1 and RB2 kits. Sigh, one day.

I personally like the fact that the RB1 drums DO have a wire. Its not like using a guitar where you want to move around with them. And who wants yet another device that you need to feed batteries.

The game works with ANY USB microphone. The official rock band mic is just a logitech with a rock band logo printed on the side.

When/if my RB1 drums fail, I'm convincing the wife to let me buy the ION set...

I just ordered the Ion set. Amazon has it for $270 with free shipping (this is a $50 savings from the Ion site). They third cymbal is $45.

Odd... I didn't notice any weird calibration issues with the drums, but I haven't played them that much. In fact, I haven't had to calibrate any of my music games (GH3, GH:WT or RB2). I did set my Samsung to Game Mode and my 360 is connected through Component if that matters.

Heh yeah, if you plug it into a PC, it will actually say "Logitech USB Microphone." I actually use the Rock Band mic with Ultra Star Deluxe (a free singing game for the PC).

Question: can you save separate calibration settings for the guitar and drums? The Samsung LNxxA650 line has notorious issues with RB2 and I'm no different - it's proving impossible to dial it in exactly and the autocal settings are utter shite.

Had 4 other people over, we all felt they were messed up and only after we got used to not listening to the music and just watching the bars were we able to play drums without failing out a bunch.

It's not my RB2, a friends and he brought it over to use on my large tv after he bought it. Calibration was 22ms and -18ms (for whatever the first and second calibration options were). Is it possible to calibrate separately for the drums?
