interesting path this thread has taken...so who's interested in the DVD player?

btw, $1000 a month to live in rochester is ridiculous

They had some at the Penfield Wegmans yesterday, too. So far, I like it. It helped me get rid of my separate 5 disc cd changer and my DVD player. Just for that, I'm happy! 🙂

I bought one at the Pittsford Wegmans last night. I needed a changer just for playing CDs and mp3s, and so far it works nicely. There's a little hum when using the included cheap-o RCA cables, which could be from anything. Hopefully a CoAx or optical cable will help this. I haven't played any DVDs yet, but audio CDs play fine. It's not pro-quality construction or anything, but it's a pretty good deal if it's all you need to be happy. Akai makes great samplers, but we'll see about the consumer electronics.

(OT: Rochester is a swell place. It's got a perfect variety of things to do, not congested, decent night life, lots of enthusiastic small businesses, plenty of places to buy stuff, tons of parks, within an hour of lots of great places, not too expensive ... now if we could just make it warmer. /OT)

Pontillos crushes all others! (but I have to admit, I do love the chicken wing pizza at Great Northern 🙂) I agree about bringing Mighty Taco in, too. I always stop there when I'm in Buffalo.

What about Mark's Pizza and Country Sweet wings!! Best ever!!

I dunno about Mark's wings, but I find their pizza to be just average. Never been to Country Sweet.

You need to bottle up some of the winter air and store it for the summer..

But yes I had the AC cranked even in september...

Hi All

Well just took a job as a Radiologist in Rochester. Liked it on the interview. Will live in Pittsford as I was told they have the best school system. Don't mind snow or cold anyway will be driving my warm SUV. Taking some tips from this tread like the best Pizza and so on. Anyother tips would be great.

Thanks

risingpheonix - Are you working at Strong? If you are then I think that the Distillary still has one free drink for employees when you show your id. I will have to ask my wife, she's a nurse over at Strong.

The Distillery has the best wings. Mmmmm.

Brighton was #25 in America's top 100 schools...Pittsford finished #31 😀

Bought the DVD for a friend of mine, she is not an electronics connosieur but apparently it does the job for her very well.

OT:
I also live in Rochester, Westfall Rd. area, I moved here from the Caribbean about 5 years ago. This place is cold as hell! Well, if hell was cold... This summer in my opinion was not that bad, I don't think we even made it to 100, the highest temp I can remember was 96-97. I probably turned on the AC three or four times only. I believe that the winter will be veeeery long this year.... but trust a guy from the islands to predict the winter.

Since I have been living here for so little time I do find that there is not much to do around here. I know about the bars and pubs in Monroe Av., but that is not my scene. And I truly think that there are way too many festivals. So if you natives can gimme some pointers I'll be very grateful. My wife also works at Strong, she used to be a tech at the Ambulatory Clinic, and a Anesthesia Tech at the operating rooms. She has the most amazing stories about operations and weird things that happen in the hospital. BTW, I work for another sinking ship in the area... Xerox. Although there seems to be signs of a recovery.

And finally, I really like it here. The people are very friendly, and do not laugh in your face when you struggle with your English! It is a quiet city , which I like, and the sorrounding areas are beautiful!! I am amazed at how I always thought that NY state was a huge city when I was a kid.
