Rochester, NY - Akai DVM-9500 $79 at Wegmans (5 disk DVD/CD/MP3 player)

Just got back from Wegmans Pittsford and they had a large stack of these on sale for $79. Seems like a pretty sweet deal to me. Looks like they sell for around $150 normally. I think I'm going to grab one tomorrow morning. Here's the specs:

5 Disc
Playable Audio - MP3, CD-RW, CD-R, CD
Playable Video - DVD
Audio out - RCA, Optical, Coaxial
Video out - Composite, S-Video, Component
Surround Sound - DTS, Dolby Digital, Virtual

Anyone have one of these? Any comments before I take the plunge?

It's not Rochester, it's Rochacha (or Crotchester, or Rottenchester, whichever one you prefer). And yes, it does blow big time 🙁

Crapchester for all you Romey fans out there. 🙂

Bump for the good old Rochacha, where I spent my college years. It was so happy that they opened Best Buy a few years back lol.

The city's a dump lately. Mayor Johnson has run it into the ground. Alot of the shopping and middle class and up have moved to the outlying areas over the past decade. I actually prefer Ontario County though.😉

I'm gonna go check it out...currently attending the U of R...lol aka the Harvard of Rochester....ahahahahahhahahahaha I don't believe they actually call it that.

Not that I don't have school pride mind you...GO YELLOWJACKETS(YEAH DIVISION III!!!)

Yeah to be honest this sort of applies everywhere...because you can be bored off your ass in new york city.

I think the real downside to the GREATER Rochester area is:
No sidewalks in half the suburbs(wtf is this crap?), they're "thinking" about adding sidewalks in Greece....uhh right.
The weather.
The weather.
The weather.
The polluted glory that is the genesee.
The fine chemical pollution from the Kodak plant(mmm high cancer rates).
The weather.

=)

u say rochester sucks, but why not live in Jacksonville, NC. I've been here for 6 months already, and it sucks worse. The best place to get food is walmart, and its pretty nasty compared to wegmans. There are no good resturants in town, mainly bars and night clubs. Its a marine town, so its catered for marines. We're working on a contract for 2 years, and jacksonville will not be remebered. Oh, and the southern BBQ tastes like ass! Only good thing, is that its 20 mins from the beach, and there's lots of eye candy, that hasn't been gobbled up by the horny marines 😉

I miss california rollin, dinosaur BBQ, Phillips European, best buy, real malls (not 15 stores = a mall that we have) and of course wegmans 🙂. What i won't be missing is the snow 😉

How dare you bash my beloved Rochester. I was born and raised there and plan to live there for the rest of my life =[

Nice to see all the Rochestarians coming out of the woodwork. 🙂 Wegmans is definitely a class act. I have no idea why anyone would go to Tops or any other grocery store.

PS - Lee3Dee, we'll always welcome you back. In fact, all the Honey Browns you can drink on me. 🙂

LOL! I just moved to Penfield from West Irondequoit and Penfield hardly has any sidewalks. No street lights for that matter either!
