i have one of these, got it as a gift for my mom, but in the meantime i ran it a few times on my dorm (all tile) floor. picks up everything fine, covers the entire room, including under my bed without any intervention by me. got it for $55 shipped i think.

That's a good link, and looks fairly honest .
I just bought the Roomba red for $125, after a bunch of reading reviews. And a friend has two which his family uses a lot.
My prime concern is pet hair and particles dragged in (leaves, grass clippings etc.) on a linoleum and hardware area of 5+ rooms about 25x45 overall. The roomba red can be upgraded with a "home base" so it will charge itself.
There's a forum for users.
The $50 deal looks good, though.

I saw a comparison review of the original Roomba, the newer Roomba, the Sharper Image one, and this vaccum. I believe this one wound up in last place if I remember right.
