I am having so much fun playing in the alpha in Robocraft. This game is still very rough especially physics (for the love of God try not to get rammed as who the hell knows what will happen). The customization controls need tweaking, but the gameplay controls are the known WASD + mouse.

It is pretty straightforward, play a game, unlock upgrade paths, buy blocks/guns/whatever to upgrade your own vehicle. Have fun hovering with a delicate snowflake vehicle of death or tank it out on the ground.

I am still only tier 1, but the games are quick. I am sticking with ground vehicles and going with the flat platform with guns on top... hiding my pilot and wheels so I last longer. I am ALMOST at the threshold of tier 2 vehicles.

I tried it out for a bit, pretty fun. Kind of reminded me of playing Tribes way back when. Plus the whole building your own vehicle thing.

Fun game, building all sorts of stuff can be interesting. As of now it could use better graphics, being able to change the controls and the pre-battle UI could use a major overhaul.

For an alpha it is not bad at all and lots of fun. Quick matchmaking.

is there a limit to what you can build? i saw Robbaz playing it and it seems kind of interesting, but seems like you can die pretty damn quick.

The limits are:
1) You purchase blocks with credits, you get credits by doing damage in games (plus bonuses). So you can't just buy a crapton of blocks out of the gate.

2) Your robot's CPU is limited by your robot's level. You get experience most the same way (damage + bonuses). Each basic block takes some CPU usage, each gun/engine/radar/whatever else costs more CPU usage.

3) Your tier is determined by your overall robot 'weight'. Block count + tech. Goes hand and hand with your CPU. Sure you can add 'heavier' stuff to your build to get into tier 2 battles but this will mean you fight advanced stuff and die VERY quick.

Just from the video, it reminds me a lot of Banjo Kazooie Nuts n Bolts, which was an amazing game. Might have to check this out.

Sadly, I quit this game after progressing to tier 4-5. The ability to tack on higher tier crap on a lower tier vehicle was a huge turnoff. I understand they made flyers better than when I was playing (before, it was one good snipe and they were TOAST). I probably wouldn't even recognize the game anymore. Which is fine.

[edit] I used to roll around in a Canyonero. It was fun and completely useless. Blinds everybody with her super high beams!

ok, this game is pretty good and i appreciate this is a small outfit with limited resources were talking about but for being 2 years old it's WAY behind where it should be. they need to focus on fundamentals:

the queue can be abysmal, especially at t1 which has the most players??!! wait times often exceed match duration

challenge matches are a joke, and should be either optional or done away with

the mixed tier parts aren't weighted appropriately, and way too much power creeps downward

3 free slots? come on!

after a year, there's a grand total of 3 (very similar) maps???

the robot building needs basic tools and info, like kerbal space program (also on unity): mass, center of mass, center of lift, etc. i feel like they did left/right symmetry and called it a day (month?)

where are basic, universal commands like tab for scoreboard, t for team talk, etc.?

Its free remember.

free to play, pay to grind less and get cosmetic items. it's better than pay to win. and if i choose to pay, it would be exactly the same flawed experience.

they need to do better. either you're a professional video game maker, or you're not. iirc this is a steam os launch title, so either valve needs to contribute some support in completing this game or launch their platform with this half-cooked turkey. if the current state took 2 years, it will never reach maturity.

then again, it's already better than most of the dismal crap out there. maybe the bar is so low, it's as good as it needs to be.

It's an interesting game, I think I leveled up to level 8 or so, and then sold a tank due to bad decisions and pretty much screwed myself. Selling a tank means selling all non-free items on it at a loss. Now, my character is stuck with crappy guns in tier2 levels.

Does anyone know if there is a way to do a character reset without creating a new account?

i don't think there is. why do you want to reset?
