They have him get dismembered by a car bomb? That's so shitty compared to the original. The scene where the gang fucks up Murphy is one of the things that made the movie great to start with. The original was great because it was brutal on every level, emotional and physical. Murphy is portrayed as the subject of almost constant torture on so many different fronts, which makes the payoff so much better when it happens. You have be serious about that to sell me on a new Robocop. This one looks too soft to me. It will probably be shit.

What made the original Robocop so awesome was the over the top violence and satire that Paul Verhoeven is brilliant at.

Looks totally nerfed.😡

Yep. Plus his armor is now tactical black. Guess that means he's not the hero Detroit wants, but he's the hero Detroit needs.

I'm noticing that the trend with remakes, like Total Recall, is that there is a big lack of satire. With this movie however, Alex Murphy doesn't seem to endure the same amount of torment that he did in the original, at least by what I can tell in this trailer. Alex Murphy being brutalized by the gang is a significant part of his transformation.

Spoilers, but seriously? Spoilers for a 25 year old classic?

His brutalization is the entire story of the original... He broke free from the programming because he had the flashbacks, then started going after the gang, led him to the top of OCP.

His revenge run was f**king incredible and amazing though. When he first runs into O'Neil (?) at the gas station, all the way to the crack factory, and to the steel mill. Amazing...

I think that style of satire or whatever was an 80s thing. I just don't see it working well today...

reminds me of deus ex, or rather deus ex is kind of based on it... anyway looks cool. i like cyberpunk and can forgive a lot.

This, a million times this!

Ugh Samuel L. Jackson. That guys acting is freaking horrible. I can't stand watching his movies. It's so awkward to get through this parts.

Hm I saw an interview with the director at Comic-Con, and he said he was trying to avoid just making the same thing as the original -- or else there just wasn't a point as you'd be better off watching the original. 😛 I think it might be okay for more of an action-oriented sci-fi movie.
