The complexity is to legalize it in a way that protects the sex workers from abuse by brothel owners, pimps, managers, agents, landlords, etc.

That said, what we have now, where it's a 100% black market, offers no protection for the workers at all and more or less opens all the doors to exploitation.

Not to mention likely results in an increase in STDs, abuse and rape

One of the legit massage recipients at the SPA at the time this took place who thinks he is on the video has filed a lawsuit to stop the release of the video. Something fishy is definitely going on. A judge has stopped the release of the video.

I agree, crazy to think the Police can plant a hidden camera then all the footage becomes public.

Yea, if I understand this correctly, there was a "fire" and the camera was planted during that event?

This is just nonsense. It seems clear that our puritan moral based society is holding us back. Legalize prostitution, clean it up and keep it safe. Registered locations, registered employees, tax it (not even heavily or used as a deterrent). I think this will go a long way to reducing harmful events like opportunistic rapists and/or child traffickers (sp?)

More details that bring up more anomalies. I know Florida is different with crime privacy laws but it is odd that police want to release the video before a trial. The yahoo comments on the first article are interesting.

‘Phony suspicious package warning’

From the memo titled “The JPD Installs Hidden Cameras Through A Fake Bomb Threat”:

Jupiter police initiated “a phony ‘suspicious package’ warning to be issued for the Spa in order to force an evacuation, so the [police] could install hidden cameras inside several of its private massage rooms, as well as in the spa’s lobby.

“This ruse concealed the execution of the Warrant from the Spa, its employees, and its customers, none of whom received notice of the issuance of the Warrant or the placement of hidden video cameras on Spa premises.”

Sounds like the classic “create a crime to prevent a crime”
What would have been so tough about sending a cop from a different district in so he’s not noticed and seeing if he gets offered a handy for cash?

A court took their side, ruling in May 2019 that the video evidence was not admissible in any of the cases because authorities had obtained it through unconstitutional means.

But Florida appealed right away and it still sits in appeals court (July 2020).

wow.. so the police police improperly received and executed search warrants.
i dont understand how it is unconstitutional if a judge signed the search warrent?

Florida needs to focus on more important issues, like COVID-19 and their high incident rate of infections. But hey, one doesn't make a name for itself doing the job of a hero, only a job of a desperate moron.
