Pacino's career started in '68 and he's still in the biz. Plus, he gets major props for banging Ellen Griswold.

Yes, but Elvis has been dead nearly as long and still probably outearns him.

Your point?

What's your point? I don't see Elvis enjoying the fruits of his labor anymore.

Spears had a brief "music" career and is the butt of many jokes these days.

While you think Pacino is a hack, there are obviously enough people who disagree and are still paying to see him in movies.

Like you, yes. That's my point.

I never expressed my view on Pacino's acting. Your original point was:

I pointed out that:

And somehow, he's managed to make millions in the process...

I think he essentially plays the same "character" in most of his movies, which is probably a reflection of the types of roles he's being offered, his acting ability (or lack thereof, depending on your point of view), and whether he's looking to just make bank or is more interested in the part.

The Revolutionary War film is considered one of the worst films ever, gained Pacino his first truly awful reviews, and kept him out of movies for the next four years.
But also, as I previously said:

He returned to the director's chair for the highly acclaimed and quirky Shakespeare adaptation Looking for Richard (1996)

Who are you arguing with? And why? With DangerAardvark, or are you still trying to make some obscure point? We know that you see Pacino in a new light. Hallelujah. However, you obviously still feel he's a hack, otherwise you never would have posted

Why not just edit the post above where you first mention:

Camp classic.

Think William Shatner, who at least now openly admits he camps it up and has made a whole new career of it.

Sadly, Pacino wants you to believe IT'S ACTING!

Hooah!

I have a friend who violently disagrees though, and whose opinion I generally give props to.

He made his argument to me with Pacino's documentary about making Shakespeare's Richard III. It did make me see Pacino in a whole new light. If you admire Pacino it's well worth watching.

But "Big Al's" hilarious accent and ridiculous acting in Revolution simply can't be easily ignored or excused.

No Wai!

Your argument makes no sense. The original intent of this thread was a nef fest by ManyBeers based on the argument that Robert DeNiro is:

You make a counterarguement that

Women go for Dustin Hoffman, so . . .

Implying beauty, or in this case "sexiness," is in the eye of the beholder.

However, when the question turns to your disdain for Pacino's acting, you work yourself into a tizzy over the fact that I pointed out that despite your opinion of Pacino, he still makes a crap load of $$$ and has enjoyed a long career in the biz.

You try and compare Brittney Spears with Pacino. I don't see people shelling out $$$ to attend any of her concerts.

Then you bring up a dead guy once you realize that perhaps the comparison with Spears wasn't the best example once it was pointed out that her career is over whereas Pacino still has one. Elvis probably still outearns him? That's like saying my Dad can beat up your Dad.

I'll repeat again, we know that you see Pacino in a new light. Hallelujah. However, you obviously still feel he's a hack.

That's all irrelevant! Stop whining about how craptastic he was in Revolution and just answer whether you think he's more sexy than DeNiro.

No, really, mooglemania85, you're simply not bright enough for me to productively engage you.

What's worse, you're not bright enough to realize you're not bright enough.

I know your Mom always tells you what a smart young boy you are, but does she know you're still on her computer this late at night?

Do yourself a favor. Quit while you're behind.

I think you should let women and gay guys decide which guys are sexy. Robert DeNiro must be in his late 60s or so by now anyway, I'll forgive him if he isn't a lady-killer anymore. I agree that he isn't mind-blowing as an actor, but then I don't think any actors are. When I see an actor I judge them according to two possible levels: convincing, or not convincing. If I believe that somebody would feasibly exist who acts like they are acting in a role, then they are convincing. Both DeNiro and Pacino do that, there are people much more dull or brash in real life than either of them have ever been on screen.

Oh snap. You really put me in my place. Just admit that you think Pacino is more sexy but think little of him as an actor. Stop trying to qualify your statement that "Pacino wants you to believe IT'S ACTING!" by mentioning your friend introducing you to the documentary. So what if he's a hack in your eyes.

i always thought the young Pacino was better looking.

no love for Scarface?

alrighty then, i really like Pacino in "Scent of a Woman".

Wow, to hear a woman say that, just made me aroused. :)
