I am somewhat surprised that no other P&N poster has yet posted the fact, that Robert Bork died this morning, on 12/19/2012 of natural causes.

http://www.cnn.com/2012/12/19/politics/robert-bork-dead/index.html

Pardon me, if I don't append the remark of rest in peace when I can only remember Robert Bork who as someone who should burn in hell instead. A morally bankrupt man who fired Archibald Cox during the Watergate investigation, when Richard Nixon placed our US Constitution in Jeopardy to advocate the any US President should have the right to violate our US constitutions. Thankfully better men and women stood up to Robert Bork and saved our constitution. And when Reagan later nominated Robert Bork for Scotus, when everyone else should take some joy that Robert Bork got soundly rejected.

Sadly the Robert Bork legacy is still alive today, as Robert Bork legacy has spawned so many other morally bankrupt followers, like Scalia, ClarenceThomas, Alan Dersowitz, and so many more whose towering intellect somehow convinces those turds that the clear language of our US constitution means something else. And money is free speech and so many other stupidities.

I take no joy in Roberts Borks death, as its only a start.

Bork was Mitt Romneys chief judicial advisor.

Thank god he lost.

Funny that all the morally bankrupt lawyers LL listed seem be to be Republican leaning/persuasion.

All the Democrats must be true and morally straight.

Bork was awful. Truly awful.
His interpretation of the Constitution would literally have allowed witch hunts. I mean for real witches.

This...is not news and should not be a recent revelation....we've known LL is totally insane for ages.

Thank you Rampant Android for your assessment of of my sanity. As for me, I have thick skin and I am not on this forum to win popularity contests. As my goal is to be proved to be right in the end.

Ignore my assessment of Robert Bork if you care to, but my position proves nothing either way. When our American constitution was in peril, Robert Bork and his successors proved George Orwell was correct, in warning about a 1984 government when towering intellects could prove black is white, war is peace, and all that stuff. As maybe we ignored fine GOP members like Elliot Richardson and so many others who refused to support Robert Bork or Richard Nixon in raping the US Constitution during Watergate. As that same battle still continues now that Robert Bork is dead.

As new towering intellects on both sides of the US partisan divide still convince themselves that black is white and war is peace.

That's good, because your incessant posts and predictions on the middle east get really old.

Does this mean that Christine O'Donnell would've been burned at the stake?

Trying to see the negative, here.

As again RampantAndroid, you may may be skeptical over my mid-east predictions, but when they accurately predict the thinking of at least 95% of all nations on earth, as evidenced by the latest votes in the UN General Assembly, go right ahead, RA, keep pretending I am always wrong about everything.

But silly me, I thought this thread was about Robert Bork and not the mid-east. As maybe you Rampant Android should explain to this forum that Bork was right and Romney thinking was really the winners of the 11/2012 POTUS election.

Bork was a complete asshole, and I say this as an old school conservative. He was also a pile of shit regarding the 2nd amendment, in addition to his illegal actions during Watergate.

Rest in pieces, shithead. We won't miss you.

Celebrating Bork's death is pretty low. I'm glad the guy wasn't confirmed, but since that he's been harmless. All he did since his SCOTUS nomination was rejected was write curmudgeonly books where he whined about how the country was supposedly going to shit.

he was a truly evil person in the history of america, who as you mentioned began his "career" of destruction and lawlessness during watergate. it was a good thing he was prevented from "borking" the country from a supreme court perch, think scalia times 10

Unhappy because more people you disagree with haven't died. Am I supposed to be impressed by your depth of conviction? How many need to die to bring a little joy into your life? Maybe you'll get lucky and a suicide bomber will take out a couple of hundred Jews on Christmas eve, imagine the joy that would bring you!

I guess we should be happy that "Bork The Fascist Dork" wasn't confirmed. Personally, I felt he wasn't confirmed because the Democrats focused on his anti-feminist leanings which was totally irrelevant to the fact that he was a Nixon Constitutional Obstructionist who didn't believe in upholding the "Rule of Law."

"Tony The Fixer" has done far more damage to our great country than "Bork The Fascist Dork."

May he rot in hell with his fellow fascists.

Robert Bork was a turd in the punchbowl of life whose luddite views on women's rights, civil rights, voting rights and so much more of the Constitutional rights we take for granted.

The good news is, his nomination was rejected by the Senate.

Bork was also Romney's chief advisor on judicial policy so the better news is, Romney lost, and Bork is one of many reasons we're so much better off for that.

Buck Fork and everything he stood for!

Even ultra-conservatives (at least semi-decent ones) distanced themselves from Bork. He was that bad. Why he became completely uninhibited at the end of his career is beyond me - but suffice to say we would live by very different laws had he been affirmed to SCOTUS.

Also: Look at Scalia - He too is becoming more and more crazy. I hope he doesn't ruin his reputation by turning a Bork No. 2.

Too late to stop that. It's already happened. Proof that being bright doesn't prevent being a mean spirited and WRONG POS.

What is sacred about the US Supreme Court and their views. Can we ever forget the views of Chief Justice Taney who said a black man does not have any rights a white man should respect. As the USA was then doomed to fight a bloody civil war to dope slap Tanney.

And fight the same war when Scotus stepped up to the plate in brown v board of education. And Roe v wade. As now our current Scotus goes even more retro in saying money is free speech and all that other rot.

As I can say is thank God more courageous politicians on both sides of the democratic and republican sides of the partisan divide came together to reject the stinking thinking of Robert Bork. And in so doing saved our US constitution.

A battle that started long before the birth of Robert Bork, and a battle that continues now continues today. As I say and say again, maybe the induing redeeming virtue of our supreme court lies in its ability to over rule itself. As they did in Brown v Board of education, in Roe v wade, and did not have to do during the era of tail Gunner Joe McCarthy.

What type of fucked up revisionist history do you believe in? The civil war DID involve slavery, but was NOT fought to free the blacks. That wasn't on the table until Lincoln needed a way to keep the British from breaking the Union's blockade of the south. The Brits wanted to trade with the south, but the British public abhorred the idea of slavery...so the best way to keep them out was to say "if you break our blockade, you support slavery."

He had to wait until a British victory to even announce it, so it wouldn't seem like some desperate move, hence why it came after Antietam.

Stick to wildly useless and wrong predictions in the middle east.
