What is comedy central coming to when it "roasts" someone like Larry the Cable Guy. He's occasionally a little funny but mostly worthless. Sure he's been a comedian for a while but hasn't he really only been in the public spotlight since right around the original Blue Collar Comedy Tour?

Maybe it's just me but I think he is very undeserving of being "roasted."

I would have to agree. I really like the guy and find him funny as well but like you, I don't think he deserves it yet.

Larry the Cable Guy has been around for a long time. He used to do call-ins to the local radio stations here in Orlando when he first developed the Larry the Cable Guy character. Some of his hungover, early morning diatribes were classic. Then he went to the Ron & Ron radio show, which was regionally syndicated, and had some national radio stints before doing movies and the Blue Collar Tour.

Blame it on Pamela Anderson. She was roasted a few years ago too. What did she do besides look good on Baywatch and get a throat massage from Tommy Lee? She opened the floodgates for lesser celebs to be roasted.

btw, wanna know Larry the Cable Guy's dirty secret? He's not a good old boy from the South. He grew up in Nebraska till he was 16 and then went to private school in Palm Beach County, Fl.; not exactly a bastion of redneckism. Gotta hand it to him though. He found a niche that made him rich.

isnt that the point of ANY business?
Sure. Comedians are a dime a dozen though and few find the success he has. If it was easy to find a niche to make you rich we'd all be having a ho & blow party right now.

He's a moron. That's the joke. The country is full of 'em.

He is actually smarter than most of the people here. He developed a retarded persona that people eat up. And because of that, he is wealthy.

Roasts are made-for-TV events. It doesn't have anything to do with being deserving. It's just programming material.

Let me explain this, Comedy Central realized that the shittier the person, the more fun they can have with the roast. So now they pick on easy targets. It actually works out pretty good. It's a roast, you aren't there to listen to Larry's jokes - remember that.
