Hi..
I have the above setup with 3 computers hooked to it.
I'm not a network person so please bear with me.
Here are the problems:
1). Mirc always give me "no ident" especially on EFNET servers. I've forward port 113 on my Linksys and now it works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. Wot gives?

2). Every once in a while, the network connection just completely drops! The modem lights are all on, but no connection. Tried detecting but to no avail. Tried pinging...same thing, tried winipcfg....no response either. However, when I disconnect the power supply to the cable modem and replug it in right after....presto....the connections back online. Note: the cable guy said that it was because of a splitter that I have used on the cable but I've removed the splitter...and the same problem occurs. Huh? Besides, most apartments only have one or two cable connections and will require a splitter....so wot the cable guy said didn't really make any sense to me.

3). Will I have a problem with the Linksys router in terms of playing online games? I have heard horror stories concerning people having connections dropped in the middle of playing games with LInksys. Was wondering if there was a way around it? Haven't really tried it but would like to know more about it before I do.

Pleez help.

irc, most irc servers won't let you connect if you're sharing a connection (for example through wingate), I don't know if the same goes for that router. when you drop offline run winipcfg and then go to your browser and type in http://192.168.100.1/logs.html and it should tell you if there was a problem with the modem (this works on my sb2100). other than making sure that all the applicable ports are open for gaming, you shouldn't have a problem with that router..

Thanks for the info convex. I figured that much. Haven't really tried it yet...fingers crossed when I do.
So anybody else experience the same problems I have with the cable connection with a fix?

Just upgraded to the latest 1.36 firmware... I hope this fixes it. Here's a funny thing.... it says the latest change in this firmware is IPSec Passthru now supported but wasn't it already supported in the last version? And why is it that they came out with this version so quickly, one month after they released 1.35?

I am hoping they realize that there was a bug and fixed it.
