Road Trip Console Gaming Question

We're going on a roadtrip and I want to set up a console system in the car to play on the road. The Wii seems like the easy choice from a power consumption standpoint, it falls in the 15-20W range while gaming, but the PS3 Slim and 360 both run around 100-150W while gaming according to what I've read online. I currently have a Sima 425W power inverter (http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0332203) for my Xterra that goes through a cigarette lighter adapter, it has some built in circuitry to avoid overloads/short-circuits/battery drain. I'm wondering if it would be safe to run the PS3 off of it. The TV it will be running on is a 8" LCD and all the games will be stuff running off of the HD.

Anyone have any experience with running a PS3 or 360 in their car?

PS2 slim, low power like the Wii but with games that are fun.

The cig outlets are limited 150w (12.5 amps) on most cars. Any more and it would put too much strain on the electrical system. You'd be better off with the PS2 slim as somebody said. Though I'd just bring a 3DS or Vita.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I wouldn't trust discs in consoles in a moving vehicle. They aren't designed for movement and the slightest jar can ruin a game. Hell... my dog nudged the 360 once when it was horizontal in the cabinet and it left a huge gouge in my game. Wouldn't work after that.

There's these amazing things called books. They have great resolution, don't require batteries or electrical connection and, progress is never lost. There are more titles than dreamt of and, can be taken with when out of the car.

Stay away from the vita now. Wait till software gets mature. Get the 3DS with resident Evil Revelations. It got a 9 out of 10 in Gameinformer I think. It is one of the best entries in the series to date.

Droid based Tablet. Perfect compliment as it can be used for much more than just gaming. With a cell makes a perfect backup GPS and you can get TV on it.

Did I win?
