I know 2 people who've had Gelaendewagens before they became the G class. I don't get em either. I mean, it's a sweet SUV, but for $75k+, I can think of tons of other vehicles I'd rather have.

In other news, the new E is super sweet.

My friends dad has had 2 of these forever. One of them is his black, all terrain vehicle he uses at his Florida ranch, the other is Silver all chromed out. He has had it for at least 5 years..... much more respect for people who import cars than before they are available in the US.

Oh yah, these are all over the place in NYC and Atlanta.

Other than better-than-average rock-crawling ability, the G500 has little to offer aside from its big V8 and a look that says, "Hey, I wasn't designed in this decade, isn't that cool?"

ROFL :D

LOL there are quite a few Charlotte yuppies I've seen driving the pre-G500 version. You can tell because the licenseplate holder, and spare tire has the New Mexico-based import company's logo. These fools paid over $120k to get it imported from Europe!!!

The only place I've seen these are in rap videos.

They're all around NYC. A guy who lives on my friends block has one. We think he's a dealer (either car or the other kind)...

they're extremely popular in Moscow. A friend who lives there says that you see tons of them driving around with extremely dark-tinted windows and the protection package (Kevlar etc). I like them... too bad they're so expensive :(

I rather like the looks; however, I had no idea it was that damn much.

That seems infinitely absurd to pay that much for a vehicle like that...

That ^ is pretty much what I was going to say. Different league, but my Trooper (2001) has the same slab-sided design. I find it brutishly attractive...much like myself. :D

Those straight-up slab sides pay off big in interior headroom which is a big deal when you're 6'1" and up.

This vehicle is way too expensive, but it is hands-down one of the most capable off-road vehicles, as sold STOCK in the world. But who in his right mind would take a $75K truck into the brush? I'd be afraid to even get dirt on the thing! :Q
