Road ragers

The problem with exits is the meee meee meee people that clearly see a long trail of cars waiting patiently on the right lane trying to exit. These selfish fucks instead fly down the fast moving lanes and cut in somewhere right near the actual exit. I've seen these jackasses hold up traffic when no one wants to let them in since they were already waiting for a long time. Its not much different than someone cutting you in line at the movie theater.

Yeah, that shit pisses me off.. If I see that, I'll close gaps and not let them in. But that isn't what Jules did here.

Also, I hate it when people slow down to .3 MPH to make a turn. WTF? Most cars have no trouble making a turn at 30MPH, yet I see people every day that slow down to 5MPH and cause everyone behind them to slam on their brakes.

I make every effort to take turns essentially as fast as I can, and be as far ahead as the car behind me as I can, so I don't cause them to hit their brakes.

Similar thing with merges. I hate it when I have the right of way and some jackass tries to merge, causing me to hit my brakes. If I have to hit my brakes because you don't understand the word "YIELD", you're an asshole.

I think it is all about horse power. Yes, just pure blatant HP ... and ok, a little testosterone.

If I am driving a minivan, then even pretending to have interest in the left most lane brings out aggression from the d@ckheads. If I am in the 800 HP Subaru (yes they exist), then no one f's with me. A slight tap on that accelerator puts them to shame and in heart beat ... unless I am behind the guy with twin turbos in his 'vette (yes they also exist) == 1000 HP. Then we have a road race & at the next rest stop make life long friends ... er .. acknowledgment?

I would have no problem with someone doing the maneuver you described, usually around here no one ever uses their turn signal unless they are stopped in a turn lane where all they can do is turn and using the signal is meaningless. I only get pissed when they squeeze in about 1-3 feet in front of me at speed, that shit is dangerous and if someone in front gets on the brakes hard I'm gonna collect his ass and get blamed for tailgating!..

If this is what Jules was doing, then I think he's at fault for being an inconsiderate, impatient douchebag on the road. However, I'm not really sure this is the case, particularly since he pointed out that the car behind him didn't take the same exit. Nonetheless, passing a string of cars when you're less than 30 seconds from your exit - how much time was such a move really going to save you? I've always considered it a douchebag move to pass cars just before off-ramps.

I really don't get why people get road rage so much.

I went with my dad to see a hockey game out of town, a good 45 minute drive. Holy crap people are retarded on the highway. 90km/h limit, we're doing about the limit maybe a bit more, and people pass us as if this was a nascar race. Funny thing is, we were keeping track of some of the bigger assholes, and we actually waked in the arena before they did! There's really no point to mass passing all the traffic just so you can do 20 over the limit.

56 mph is like a snail crawling along on a straight highway. Going 55 or 75 is the difference between a few minutes or a few hours. It depends on how long your commute is, so there is obviously a "point" or people wouldn't do it.

So, I'm driving along this divided roadway last night on my way home, I'm in the left lane and passing a line of some slower traffic on the right but I need to merge to the right because about 1/2 mile up I am going to make a right turn. Anyway, I see a gap and signal that I'm going to change lanes when this idiot in a minivan starts to accelerate and tries to close the door so I can't merge in. The gap is still plenty big enough for me to merge safely though so I do it anyway. Now the idiot in the minivan is laying on the horn and the passenger is waving his arms frantically at me. I was probably a good 10-15' in front of them because I could see his front bumper in my rear view mirror so I wasn't THAT close to him. I just shook my head and laughed it off.

Was it really too much to ask that you let me in? Really? I signaled, I wasn't driving like an asshole, I was just another motorist going about my business and you get all bent out of shape for what? I made my right turn a couple hundred yards up and was out of your way anyway so what's the big deal?

About 2 miles earlier I was in the middle lane and the right lane was ending, a guy in a pickup truck signaled to me at the last minute that he needed to move over into my lane, I was way closer than the minivan was to me (I was almost up to his rear bumper and overtaking him), but I backed off and let him in because that's the kind of guy I am.

Why are some people such jackasses when they get behind the wheel?
Why do I have the feeling that you unwittingly split a traveling caravan apart? Maybe the guy you got behind and the guy you got in front of were actually traveling together and or the guy behind was following the guy in front because he didn't know where he was going and then you show up and screw that up for them.. That would explain the frantic driver & passenger.

I'm already pissed at you...you are going to cut in and then turn.

You are in a hurry passing everyone, only to cut back over and turn off anyway.

Nope, I was driving in town on a Saturday afternoon in light traffic. I was barely going the speed limit for the road I was on and passing traffic that was going much slower than the speed limit. I almost didn't bother to pass but because they were going so slowly I decided to do so. What I didn't count on was that all the cars in that line were pretty much all tailgating each other so I had to slip in somewhere. I signaled and I wasn't driving like an aggressive douchebag. Is it really too much to ask for some consideration in situations like this? Really?

Nope, the guy in front of me turned at the same place I did. The minivan did not turn and continued on the road we turned off of.

Oh, definitely then. If the people in front of you are going below the speed limit in good road conditions during the day, then it's a moral imperative to pass them when you have the opportunity.

I do this too. I'll hover my foot over the brake just in case, but I won't get pissed off unless I actually need to use the brakes to prevent an accident. When put in the same situation, my best friend would probably freak out and lose his shit. I swear some people are just schizophrenic or something.
