Ok, so I'm driving to school with my friend this morning and approach a red light. There was a bus in the right lane, and 3 cars in the left lane - Car 1, Car 2 and Me. The light turns green and Cars 1 & 2 floor it as I followed. When we finally pass the bus, I put my blinker on to change into the right lane but Car 2 decides he is going to go ahead of me. Fine, I'll just continue in the left lane. I approach Car 1 and notice there is enough space for me to change lanes so I can pass him. I go to change into the right lane and Car 2 sees me and speeds up to try and beat me. It was too late though and I had no choice but to continue my merge. He finally realized I wasn't going to give in so he slams on his breaks to slow down and flips me off and I do the same (its a finger though, means nothing to me). So we're driving for another 2-3 minutes until we reach the street the school is on but the light is red. I turn into the left turn lane and see Car 2 coming up on the right lane. I go to my friend and say "I'm rolling down the windows. I know he's gonna say something." Sure enough, he pulls up to me, (still in the right lane) and starts yelling at me:

Car 2 - "What the f-ck you think you're doing cutting me off?"

Me - "Oh well, tough"

Car 2 - "What the f-ck?"

Me - "There was plenty of room for me, you just had to be a d-ck"

Then he threatens me and at this point I'm laughing.

Car 2 - "What, you go to school up there?"

Me - "Yeah"

Car 2 - "Good, we'll see how much of a tough guy you are."

Me - "Oh yeah, I'll be waiting for you - Come, I dare you"

Light turns green for him and he speeds off, making the next left he can. I continued on my way to school, pulled into my normal parking spot, and got out of the car. I told my friend that he can go inside but I'm waiting for that fool. He stayed with me and we waited for 10 minutes but no show. Now we can see who the tough one really is.

I get out of school like 2 hours later and walk to my car and surprisingly there was nothing. I figured that moron would come and key my or something but fortunately nothing. Too bad though too since if he did anything he would have just hurt himself. (I had his description, model and make, plate number and a witness)

Now I don't go around starting fights nor do I walk around looking for trouble. I protect myself and my friends when needed. No one considers me violent, probably the complete opposite. I guess he felt he had to wave his d-ck at me but I decided to measure it. He could have just avoided the whole incident and allow me to pass the car ahead of me but he didn't want anyone cutting him off. To make matters worse, the road was fairly empty since the various signals control traffic into little small groups. I guess he wanted to feel big but instead he came out the small guy.

LOL! That's awesome!

I still don't know why people have to be such jerks about merging and letting people in. It's not like they are going to lose alot of time by being courteous.

This kid Dusty that interned here last summer had a funny story about a road rager.

Dusty cut off some dude on the way to work and the guy pulls up next to him. He rolls down his window and starts swearing at Dusty while his car is still going 30 miles an hour. While he's staring at Dusty and going off on him his car PLOWS into the back of a VW Golf right in front of him. That car had apparently stopped and the road rager was still yelling at Dusty. So if you can imagine the scene the guy is yelling out his window and suddenly his whole body lurches as he hits the other car. What an idiot.

Here is my story from a few weeks back:

Driving to work down a big old highway here in NJ and I need to pass a car in the middle lane. I move over to the left to pass him and I notice some guy zooming up on my tail.

Normally I would be nice, speed up, get in front of the car I am passing, and let him on his way.

Well, not this time.

When he gets right behind me he starts flipping out and slamming on his steering wheel and pointing and yelling at me. So, of course I do the nice thing that any kind driver would do and slow down to about 5 miles under the speed limit to match the car I was trying to pass. The guy keeps flipping out, pointing his arm at the window at me yelling and beating his car.

I stay going nice and slow because I don't want to be a rude driver to the guy behind me (sarcasm)

Eventually he pulls into the right lane and zooms buy but not without slamming his dashboard and wheel while yelling at me. He then pulls into the left lane in front of me and starts screaming at his rear view mirror and pointing at it. Yelling at me more of course.

Then he speeds up for about 30 seconds and gets off the next exit.

What a waste.

I was worried that he was going to shoot me but eh.. I hate jerk drivers. I am usually a considerate driver but when someone acts like a total moron I do not feel bad at all to piss him off back.

My favorite road rage story is as follows:

I'm headed up to the north GA moutains with few friends on our motorcycles early one morning. We're in some traffic on surface streets on our way to GA 400 (goes due north to the mountain roads) and we notice this jackass in a 911 Turbo cutting in and out of lanes trying to get that one extra car length ahead, I guess. The access ramp onto 400 is fairly long (maybe .25 miles or so) and goes from two lanes to one lane about halfway. There are huge cement walls on both sides at this point. The dumbass in the 911 apparently tried to get around just one more car before the road becomes one lane and gave it a bit too much gas trying to do so. I hear my buddy ahead of me say something like "Oh sh*t!!" (we use these short-range radios that clip onto your helmet) and look up in time to see the back end of the 911 fishtail, one rear tire gets into the grass, the guy overcorrects, spins 180, slams the back end right into the wall, bounces off with the wheel still cut to one side, spins around and mashes the front end into the same wall and comes to a stop. Amazingly, he didn't so much as scratch any of the cars around him. We pull up, see that the guy is OK (some young, arrogant-looking attorney or similar), proceed to laugh our asses off for a few minutes and ride away. The look of sheer anger on the guy's face realizing he'd just totalled a 6-figure car was priceless. I guess there's a reason they say the 911 turbo isn't for "inexperienced drivers" eh? :D

Your behavior instigated the whole thing. Don't roll down your window. Don't be a tough guy. If you cut the guy off, say "sorry". Sooner or later you'll meet someone who is totally unstable with a 9mm semi auto under his seat, and you'll regret trying to be so cool in front of your friends.

This isn't Road Rage, but it is funny.

I was at a stop light in Alabama, and a guy in a Mustang GT pulls up beside me in the left lane and starts reving his engine and montioning that he wants to race. I'm not the racing type, but I noticed a unmarked police car had pulled in behind him. So, I go "Sure! Let's drag!".

Well, the light turns green, and he peels rubber down the street. Seconds later the cop is after him with his lights and sirens on. LOL!

What an idiot. Just because I drive a red Firebird everyone else thinks I want to race them.

I was heading down a road that has a median with 2 lanes on each side. I was in the far right lane, going about 50. Some lady in a minivan coming from the other direction decides to pull a U-turn when I'm right in front of them. I slammed on my brakes and honked my horn. Apparently, they still felt like saying, "fsck you" so they came to a DEAD STOP in the middle of the road quite suddenly. I slammed on my brakes AGAIN (stopping about 1 foot from their bumper), while the traffic behind me zipped and zoomed around me trying not to create a 7-car pileup. When I finally got around the bitch in the minivan, she was giving me the finger, while still stopped dead on a 50 MPH road. WTF is with some people?

heres one, mind you i live in N. Dakota... ;) ... so i'm driving out to the lakes on a highway that is 55mph, there is a car up ahead that is going quite a bit slower... i get up behind the person, about 2.5 or 3 car legnths behind, a fairly large gap. i can't pass him because the road is pretty twisty at that point... i follow behind for about 5 min, going 40 mph, i get the chance to pass and as i come along side the car, the driver gives it some gas and starts speeding up... i look down at my speedo and i'm doing 75 and still haven't passed the fool... anyway, put my truck to the boards and got around the person... all the time i'm just thinking "WTF?!"... seriously, let me pass if your not doing the speed limit!

I am an aggressive driver. I wish not to be. It is uncontrollable, no matter how hard I try and say to myself, "I have PLENTY of time to get there, just relax." I end up changing lanes to pass people so that I can get there all of 5 minutes faster than they would if they follow the same path. It is not worth it. Yet, I still have no control over it. I am a type 1 / type A personality and like to accomplish things faster - talk fast, do fast.

I cannot help being aggressive-minded, but also keep in mind, this doesn't mean I'm reckless on the road either. I have no road-rage stories to tell because I have not had the experience in my 7-years of driving. Moral is, these things happen because of a person's behavior, not their personality. I can control one, but not the other.

I wasn't acting like a tough guy nor did I instigate anything. I didn't cut him off, I nearly passed the car infront of me by changing into the right lane then changing back. Apparently the both of you see this as cutting someone off which is far from it. For someone to be a d-ck and freak out because of *their actions is totally uncalled for. He could have maintained his speed and I would have been far away from him. Instead he saw my blinker and decided to wanted to beat me I'm guessing to make himself look more like a man.

I may have rolled down my windows, but I didn't acknowledge him coming up on my right. He was the one who started yelling across traffic, I defended myself and my actions. If I was going to act like a tough guy I would have followed him to wherever he was going but I didn't. I merely waited outside of my car for him to appear so if he decided to key my car or crack a window, I would be their to prevent it or atleast call the Police on my Cellphone.

OK - here is my story:

After a late night card game my dad and I are driving back to his house to pick up my car and this Maxima pulls up alongside for a moment and I make eye contact with the driver. He fades back and I resume talking with my dad. It's a nice night and the windows are halfway down and the Maxima pulls up alongside again. I glance over and the guy is looking right at me. I roll down the window to see what he wants, thinking that MAYBE we are dragging something or have a low tire or some crap like that, like he's going to be HELPFUL! He proceeds to curse me out, calling me a pvssy and saying how he'll kick my ass and my dad's ass too, yelling at me to pull over so he can "F" me up and "F" my dad up! I laughed and said "What is your problem?" It was bizarre, I asked my dad if he cut him off or something and he hadn't. He eventually pulled off at the next exit but it was all because I made eye contact?

I beg to differ, if someone is unstable, then a situation that happened to them previously in the day could have been the last straw.

My example: I was on my way to work one morning, when I notice this guy coming up through thick traffic swerving and cutting people off. So he gets up behind me and cannot pass on the left or the right, due to traffic. So he starts honking his horn, flashing his lights, and swerving slightly back and forth. I'm thinking to myself, "wtf is this guy doing?" So I pay no attention. Put my blinker on move over my three lanes to exit the freeway, and at this point this a$$hole is beside me, swerving at me, flipping me off and yelling out his passenger window. So, me being in a mellow mood, smile and wave back "bye, bye" to him and exit the freeway. He slams on his brakes, almost hits two other cars, and follows me off the exit.

Now I'm being cautious. We get to the stoplight just off the exit, and he pulls up behind me, jumps out of his car and comes up to my door. My window was up, btw. He's standing there yelling and flipping me off, telling me what an a$$hole I am. The light turns green, and not to differ from my previous reaction to his antics I smile and wave "bye, bye" again. (Just to let you know, I am doing this politely, not sarcastically.)

This dood takes a couple of steps with my car as I start to pull away and then punches my drivers side window. My mellow mood came to a screeching halt almost as quick as my car. It takes a lot to piss me off, and this apparently is one way to do it. I get out and yell at him to get back in his car and get on his way, before I get really pissed. He doesn't. He decides to shove me into my car and punch me in the chest. Right hook to the jaw, straight right to the nose, and he decides it wasn't such a good idea to follow me off the freeway. He decides it is a good idea to sit on his hood, hold his now bleeding nose, and wave "bye, bye" to me. :) (He didn't actually wave "bye, bye", but I'm sure he was thinking it!)

Btw, I'm not normally such a calm driver. I do not cut people off. I do not tailgate. I don't do stupid things to otherwise piss off other drivers. So I feel self righteous in not tolerating people that do these things.

Wow...that's amazing the dude got out and punched your window?! WTF?!
I'm too scared that the person I screw with like that is the dude with a gun in his lap.

I don't road rage too too much, and most of it isn't b/c of people going slow or cutting me off, it's b/c of people flat-out endangering my life.

One time that really got under my skin was this:
It's rush hour at a busy intersection in a fairly rural area. I wait at the light in a long line of traffic to make a right turn. There is no sidewalk, there is no crosswalk. There is hardly any shoulder. This is NOT a safe place to be jogging, especially at 8:30 AM when it is FULL of traffic.

I go to make my right turn, and a woman whom I happen to know because I live near her home, who is frequently jogging, and whom I would assume would know something about not being an idiot, I guess just decides it's a green light and runs across the street right into my path as I'm making my turn, forcing me to stop short. I had my windows open, and my exact words that I said out loud were "Come on, lady!" I mean what kind of moron just darts into traffic like that?
But that's not what pissed me off. What pissed me off was that as she ran by she yelled to me "What, were you going to hit me, motherfvcker?"

What a rude biotch. I always knew she wasn't the most respectable woman in town, but I never realized what a jerk she was. I didn't hit her, I didn't even honk my horn, I just stopped and maybe she heard me say "come on, lady," but I fail to see how that justifies her response. She should have enough common sense to jog in a safer area and to not just dart out into traffic. A lot of people don't realize it that in NJ while yes, you have to yield to peds, it does NOT imply that peds can just step in front of a moving vehicle--that is ALSO illegal.

I don't know why, but for some reason that incident really set me off.

You got lucky on that one. Where I come from that's assault and road rage. (Yes, there's a law for that now around here)

I got lucky? I would have claimed self defense easily. He punched my window, He shoved me and He punched me in the chest.

Btw, where do you come from? n/m just checked. Colorado. . . and here I thought California was the only place they protected the criminals.

I'm too scared that the person I screw with like that is the dude with a gun in his lap.

What kinda struck me funny (later on the next day) was that the dude that did this was like 6' 4" or so. So I don't think he was expecting me, 6' 7" 285 lbs., to get out of the car after he punched the window. I think he may now be comptemplating his actions before his reactions.;)
