Well, it looks like one of my month old XFX Radeon HD 4890 is causing my system to lockup, so I'm in the process of getting it fixed or replaced through XFX.

Has anyone gone through the process before and how long does it usually take? Luckily, I was running dual cards, so I have one left to keep going. I'm just curious...

My friend RMA'd a card to BFG and it took him about a week to get a card back, hopefully XFX is that fast

Just an Update:

I opened the trouble ticket on 1/10/10. I got the RMA# couple days later, and XFX received the faulty card on 1/18/2010. I shipped using UPS Ground for $14.00. XFX tested the card and found it "faulty" and shipped me a replacement on 1/22/2010, so I should be getting it this week.

All in all, easy and headache free. :)

Do they reimburse for you shipping it back to them?

no B&M store reimburses you for gas to drive back to the store to return an item, that is how i view shipping charges. I have had so RMA a few things in my day and don't have a problem with paying for shipping the product back. Now if you had to pay for thier shipment back to you that is another story.

Good to hear. Most of the ATI partners have less than stellar reputations for customer service, so it's nice to know that XFX appears to be living up to their promises. Their cards are sometimes a little but more expensive than other ATI partners, but I'm definitely willing to pay a little extra for good (prompt) service. I RMA'ed an HIS X1900XTX a few years ago, and the whole process took over 2 months.

I had a not so great experience with Sapphire too. They wanted $15 just to authorize the RMA on an artifacting card. On top of standard RMA costs. I for one am very glad top tier ex-nv partners now offer ATI hardware. When all you had was Sapphire and Visiontek the choice to get an ATI card was a much harder one.

Thanks for the update! My last two have been XFX..... 4890 and a 5870. I have not had to do an RMA so this is great to know.

XFX RMA is great I've shipped my GTX 260 Black Edition twice. But this is the last time that I'm buying there heavily overclocked cards, they fail all the time. My third card memory failed on my again, I didn't bother RMA so I downclocked it to stock GTX 260 frequency. :(

They didn't reimburse me for shipping, but that's ok. It was pretty much stated in their warranty how the whole process worked. When I was shipping the package, I went to the UPS Store, and looked at my options. Fedex for 2-day was $48.00, so I chose UPS Ground with $200 insurance. XFX paid for shipping back. It's funny tracking the package to Alaska, it's been a few days, and it's just leaving Redding, CA this morning.
