Nocturnal takes his drive to a data recovery business:

"I need to recover my 40 gigs of pr0n on my dead HDD. When you are done I want the drive back to RMA it."

Bwahahaha

lol

seriously, you couldn't low level format the HD?

i would be more worried about personal identifications.... such as name, taxes, bank accts. (if one were to use Money or Quicken)

The HDD only stored files.

Only files? Last time I checked Money and Quicken backup their data to a funny thing called a FILE!

so what did u end up doing?

i am in the same situation...sort of.....but instead of pr0n, it's financial documents!

my drive doesn't even spin! how can i delete my files??

Man - you guys - don't you even know any HDD basics? Just wave a big magnet over it a few times. I'm not sure what IBM may consider it afterwards but rest assurred, your pr0n / the other guy's financial documents will be gone.
