So, I bought a board from MSI at newegg.com. 1 month later my CPU came and I tested it out and it didn't work. MSI wants me to pay for shipping the mobo back and forth. That's like 20 bucks, 1/3 of the price of the mobo. This annoys me. Last year when I build my previous computer, the same thing happened with my video card from Leadtek. They don't even seem to offer a reimbursement of any kind. This is unacceptable to me. Since they gave me a broken product, I shouldn't have to pay for their mistakes. Sh*t! They should be paying me for it.

Anyone know of a company that reimburses you.

I don't believe in paying for them to ship it back to you. Guess that's why I never buy MSI products.

That's exactly why I won't buy parts from online retailers:(. Definately pretty retarded that you have to pay for their screw up, if anything, they should be throwing a few extra bucks your way for the trouble. I think the NCIX store pays for shipping to and fro if you're a platinum (premium: you pay indirectly) member.

Newegg doesn't manufacture motherboards, thus a manufacturing defect is not their responsibility. Newegg will pay the costs of shipping the replacement to you, both ways if Newegg made a mistake by shipping the wrong item as the reason for return.

Next time, purchase from a parts retailer/dealer in your area (where you would also bear the expense of returning it in terms of your time and fuel costs).

Wait am i to understand that if the board dies under waranty. that not only would the buyer have to pay to send it to them but pay for the return shipping of a new/refurb item. damn makes not want to buy the msi board i just picked.

It may be my personal tastes, but id never touch a msi.

Anyways, that seems strange msi said they want you to pay both shipping charges. Ive never heard of that before. Are they poor or something? Ive done many RMAS, 2 of which were mobos. 1 Asus and 1 Epox I RMA'd last year.

The Epox I RMA'd was a manufacturer defect, but I bought it at chiefvalue.com. It was still within the 30 days luckily. Chiefvalue.com covered BOTH shipping back and forth for their RMA's. I didnt have to pay one cent for RMA to chiefvalue.com.

My asus RMA, they were willing to cover the shipping back to me. So it was split. Ive never heard of a company making you pay BOTH. Another reason I will never buy an MSI product.

In response to what you said about leadtek. This is another reason I ONLY buy from EVGA AND BFG. I am not 100% sure, but I believe both EVGA/BFG as well as some others, will reimburse you for any shipping costs for an RMA. However, there are many companies who wont and make you pay for 1-way. You just have to ask them. Ive never heard of a company making you pay both.

The best advice I can give you is, never buy any video card other than BFG or EVGA. They both have great customer service and are friendly. Lifetime warranty as well, which leadtek and other companies dont have.

I'm not sure about EVGA, but I had to pay for shipping one way when I did an RMA with BFG about a year ago (which sucks, but it seems to be pretty standard for most companies). Having to pay it both ways is absurd though.

Is this only with msi. does gigabyte/asus/abit do this aswell? I can understand paying to send the broken item back. however the paying to have a new unit shiped back i can't understand.

Like I said in my post down below, Asus definitely doesnt. I only had to pay 1-way when I did an rma with them.

On top of that, I believe if you ask them, they will refund you the shipping cost. Companies just need you to fax the reciept over. I didnt try though. To me, $8.00 isnt a big deal to bother having to fax.

And to the other post about BFG. I think if you ask them as well, they might refund you. They definitely dont refund you if you dont ask heh.
