RMA Question

Cares

When you RMA something, do they usually fix your item and send it back or send you a new item? Just out of curiousity. I never RMA'ed a product before.

well normally they replace with a new one, as it takes too much time to find out whats wrong with it and then fix.
so.. usually, they test it to make sure its really faulty and then send u a brand new one

So technically, if I have something broken, I can RMA it and then sell it as brand new? Would this be unethical? I have a bricked router that I want to RMA, but also not really want it anymore.

if they send it back to u as new.. u can sell it as new with x month warranty left..

say ur hdd has 5 year warranty
2 year goes by, 3 year warranty left
you sell as new but new drive has 5 year warranty, at least tell the guy you have 3 year left. or no warranty available

Often the item you get back is a repaired item. Most places usually state this kind of info in their RMA policy.

IMHO, it s/b advertised as an RMA'd item.

Usually if you send it to the manufacturers... They would attempt to repair the item, unless it is very time consuming, or you specifically request for a replacement, and it isn't rejected, then you get a replacement.
